S.F. to ease up on unlicensed drivers

Call it sanctuary on wheels: San Francisco is about to give a big break to people, many of them illegal immigrants, who are caught driving without a license. Beginning Sunday, cops will no longer impound cars the first time drivers are pulled over without a license. The reason: Many such drivers are in the United States illegally – and thus unable to get a license – and the officials pushing the change think that impounding their cars is an unfair hardship. Instead, unlicensed drivers will be given 20 minutes to phone a relative or other acquaintance with a valid license and insurance to pick up the car. If the driver doesn’t have a cell phone, police will help him contact someone. If no one shows up, then the cop is to call a supervisor to approve the tow. [This is the kind of crap the people who live and pay taxes in San Fransisco want out of their elected representatives? By the way the mayor of this once great city plans on running for governor. I shudder at the thought…ed]

U.S. eyes reining in ‘too big to fail’ institutions

Congress and the Obama administration are about to take up one of the most fundamental issues stemming from the near collapse of the financial system last year — how to deal with institutions that are so big that the government has no choice but to rescue them when they get in trouble. A senior administration official said on Sunday that after extensive consultations with Treasury Department officials, Representative Barney Frank, the chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, would introduce legislation as early as this week. The measure would make it easier for the government to seize control of troubled financial institutions, throw out management, wipe out the shareholders and change the terms of existing loans held by the institution. [The same government asshats who CAUSED our financial mess are scheming to go even further than they already have and take over even more private businesses under the guise of saving them from “impending collapse.” They will then install their own flunkies into management positions and implement new rules enabling them to rape these banks by handing out thousands more ACORN type loans and paying off political supporters. Spreadin’ the wealth indeed…ed]

Pelosi: Health care ‘public option’ needs new name

A government-sponsored “public option” for health care lives, though it may be more attractive to skeptics if it goes by a different moniker, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Monday. In an appearance at a Florida senior center, the Democratic leader referred to the so-called public option as “the consumer option.” Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., appeared by Pelosi’s side and used the term “competitive option.” Both suggested new terminology might get them past any lingering doubts among the public—or consumers or competitors. [What’s that old saying again? Doesn’t it go something like, “You can put lipstick on Pelosi but she still looks like a pig?”…ed]

CNN Drops to Last Place Among Cable News Networks

CNN, which invented the cable news network more than two decades ago, will hit a new competitive low with its prime-time programs in October, finishing fourth – and last – among the cable news networks with the audience that all the networks rely on for their advertising. The official monthly numbers will be finalized at 4 p.m. Monday and will include results from Friday. CNN executives conceded that will not change the competitive standing for the month. CNN will still be last in prime time. That means CNN’s programs were behind not only Fox News and MSNBC, but even its own sister network HLN (formerly Headline News.) That was the first time CNN had finished that poorly with its prime-time shows. [Want to know why CNN is dead last in the ratings? Read the next article…ed]

Obama, smack those playground bullies

In the schoolyard of American politics, President Obama is the big, smart kid with all of the test answers who’s being bullied by a bunch of Neanderthal ankle-biters from all sides. Meanwhile, all the teachers are wondering, “Why does he take this crap? He’s bigger and smarter than all the other kids.” It’s no surprise the Glenn Becks of the world have been attacking Obama since the moment he stepped into the Oval Office. Beck and his blathering buddies on the right — you know, the stinky kids in the coatroom who eat their own boogers. Always pick on the kids least likely to fight back. That being said — we did elect President Obama to change things, and so far the only thing he seems to be changing are his faux-patriotic lapel pins … and his mind. [I would like for anyone to point out to me a conservative working for Fox News who talks about liberals the way this unfunny blisteringly stupid woman speaks about those opposed to the radical leftist occupying our White House. No wonder CNN is swirling the toilet bowl awaiting that final flush…ed]

Conservatives Maintain Edge as Top Ideological Group

Conservatives continue to outnumber moderates and liberals in the American populace in 2009, confirming a finding that Gallup first noted in June. Forty percent of Americans describe their political views as conservative, 36% as moderate, and 20% as liberal. This marks a shift from 2005 through 2008, when moderates were tied with conservatives as the most prevalent group. The 2009 data are based on 16 separate Gallup surveys conducted from January through September, encompassing more than 5,000 national adults per quarter. Conservatives have been the dominant ideological group each quarter, with between 39% and 41% of Americans identifying themselves as either “very conservative” or “conservative.” Between 35% and 37% of Americans call themselves “moderate,” while the percentage calling themselves “very liberal” or “liberal” has consistently registered between 20% and 21% — making liberals the smallest of the three groups. [Suck this Joy Behar. This is NOT a left leaning country and certainly won’t become one into the foreseeable future. This is why we have so much outrage at the direction this administration has taken in the small amount of time they have been running the show and this outrage has nothing to do with the fact Obama is a half black guy, it’s his radical leftists policies pissing millions of Americans off…ed]

14 Americans killed in 2 Afghan helicopter crashes

A helicopter crash and separate collision involving two other choppers killed 14 Americans on Monday in one of the deadliest days for U.S. troops in the war in Afghanistan, the U.S. military said. In the first crash, a helicopter went down in the west of the country after leaving the scene of a firefight with insurgents, killing 10 Americans – seven troops and three civilians working for the government. Eleven American troops, one U.S. civilian and 14 Afghans were also injured. In a separate incident in the south, two other U.S. choppers collided while in flight, killing four American troops and wounding two more, the military said. [I believe this brings us to 40 brave men who have been killed in that hellhole of Afghanistan so far this month…ed]

An Open Letter To Barack Obama

Mr. Obama,

Through your waffling and indecision over what to do about Afghanistan, you have clearly demonstrated that you lack the intestinal fortitude to carry out the solemn responsibilities you’ve been so enthusiastically entrusted with, rendering you unfit to be Command-In-Chief of the US military. (SNIP) When ordinary people voiced concerns at the breakneck pace of your reconstruction of American society; bailouts, stimuli, government contracting, cap and trade, renegotiating missile defense, Iran, North Korea, financial sector regulation and everything else you’ve now turned upside down, you assured them we could rid the world of nuclear weapons, save the environment, fix health care and rescue the economy. You said there was no reason that you couldn’t multi task. You said that all of these things were related to our success as a nation. Yet, you expect me to believe that you can’t pursue simultaneous military and diplomatic tracks, both vital for mission success, in Afghanistan? Chamber: White House attacks are backfiring

U.S. Chamber of Commerce President Tom Donohue says a campaign by the White House and its allies to undermine his $200-million-a-year association has largely failed — and actually has helped raise even more money for its pro-business efforts. In a 75-minute interview with POLITICO, Donohue dismissed recent defections by Apple and at least four other companies, which quit over the Chamber’s opposition to Democratic climate change legislation — as essentially meaningless. “Members come and go all the damn time,” he said. (SNIP) The Chamber, like Fox News, says it’s making the best of a fight it did not choose. It’s unusual for a White House to take on critics so frontally, but aides to President Barack Obama said they decided in August they needed to be more aggressive in confronting their critics. And that revs up supporters on the left, who had hoped Obama would cater to them more quickly and gives the White House a foil to help argue its case. [The Chicago thugs who have taken over our White House are starting to see a rising backlash from Americans who have quickly grown sick and tired of being attacked by Obama and his minions…ed]

Obama’s Real Enemies List

Much has been made by the political left of Richard Nixon’s infamous enemies list. The reality is most of those named were people who did not receive presidential Christmas cards or White House reception invitations. In contrast, Barack Obama has a real enemies list the peace prize-winner and his proxies have attacked during the past year, including the minority of news outlets that do not worship the media’s latest false idol. In August 2008, the Obama campaign implored the Justice Department to levy criminal charges against those funding an American Issues Project commercial that proved embarrassing to Obama. Days later, the campaign sent an “Obama Action Wire” to thousands of liberal activists exhorting them to harass Chicago’s WGN radio because an on-air guest unearthed university documents that contradicted Obama’s claims about his long-time ties to domestic terrorist Bill Ayers. [This article contains a lengthy list of the thug like behavior exhibited by Obama and his handlers going back to when he was running for president to the present. In the spirit of brevity, his “real” enemies list is simply America itself…ed]

Journalism Students Mock Fox News and Hannity in Hip-Hop Song

People always ask why a liberal bias is so prevalent in the media when more Americans admit being conservative than left-leaning. One of the answers is that journalism schools at our nation’s colleges and universities are hot-beds of liberalism. As a perfect example, the following song was created by graduate students at Columbia University’s School of Journalism. Rapping over Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind,” the students mocked the Fox News Channel and host Sean Hannity as they sang to their class about ethics in journalism. Makes you wonder whether these journalism students know how many liberal contributors there are at Fox versus conservative contributors at ABC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NBC, and PBS COMBINED! Somehow I doubt their professors discuss that parity. In fact, these kid probably admire MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann despite the fact he almost never invites anyone on “Countdown” who disagrees with him. How’s that for parity, boys and girls? [Yet the leftists continue to claim their is no liberal bias in the media…ed]

Why 1978 was a very bad year

He followed an unpopular president. He received a strong election mandate. He changed the tone in Washington. He said that Human Rights mattered. That America’s image in the world had to be remade. He would receive a Nobel Peace Prize. As the end of his presidency’s first year drew near, the future looked bright. He had brought change — change that mattered. It was 1977. The next year was very bad. In 1978, President Jimmy Carter negotiated the Camp David Accords, formalizing peace between Israel and Egypt. (It’s what won him the Nobel.) He also signed a bill that legalized the home-brewing of beer. Almost all the other news that year proved uniformly bad. Newt Gingrich Considering Run for President in 2012

Newt Gingrich, the former House Speaker and perennial big thinker in the Republican party, said this morning that he will likely run for president in 2012 if he and his wife, Callista, assess the field of candidates in 2011 and feel “a requirement as citizens that we run.” His comments came during an interview on C-SPAN’s Washington Journal this morning. [The lefties and the state run media are all sporting woodies over this news. They’ll pump this guy up over all the other Republican candidates then carve him up like a Thanksgiving turkey when he wins the primary. No thanks Newt, please just stay home…ed]

Another judicial radical

Another day, another Obama nominee who doesn’t appear to love America. Another nominee who thinks the United States is inherently racist. Another nominee who thinks that judges should let their “ethnic and racial background” have an effect on how they conduct their trials. President Obama’s radicalization of American government needs to be stopped. In this case, the nominee is Northern California federal district court nominee Edward Chen, forwarded by the Senate Judiciary Committee to the full Senate last Friday on a party-line vote. Mr. Chen is currently a federal magistrate in San Francisco, and a lawyer long active with the American Civil Liberties Union before that. Judge Chen’s words speak for themselves. When the congregation sang “America the Beautiful” at a funeral, Judge Chen told the audience of his “feelings of ambivalence and cynicism when confronted with appeals to patriotism – sometimes I cannot help but feel that there are too much [sic] injustice and too many inequalities that prevent far too many Americans from enjoying the beauty extolled in that anthem.” [Once Obama stuffs the courts with a grip of far left kooks like this it won’t matter what the political landscape looks like in the future. The Mexicanization of American Law Enforcement

Beheadings and amputations. Iraqi-style brutality, bribery, extortion, kidnapping, and murder. More than 7,200 dead—almost double last year’s tally—in shoot-outs between federales and often better-armed drug cartels. This is modern Mexico, whose president, Felipe Calderón, has been struggling since 2006 to wrest his country from the grip of four powerful cartels and their estimated 100,000 foot soldiers. But chillingly, there are signs that one of the worst features of Mexico’s war on drugs—law enforcement officials on the take from drug lords—is becoming an American problem as well. [With the emphasis on “diversity” and political correctness instead of who is the best person for the job in the government hiring process it’s little wonder why there is so much corruption within the federal law enforcement ranks when it comes to these Mexican drug cartels…ed]

Democrats suffering ‘Obama Hangover’

As he is quick to point out, President Obama is presiding over two wars, a sour economy, and an epic fight to rebuild the nation’s health care system. Now he has tacked on state and local political races. With an off-year election fast approaching, Obama is stepping up his commitment to Democratic candidates in hopes that an infusion of campaign charisma might pump up turnout. What the party is finding, though, is that the electricity of 2008 is tough to recapture. Some Democratic candidates running for local office around the country call the phenomenon the “Obama Hangover.’’ It is proving tougher to recruit volunteers and get people to vote. (SNIP) Worse for the Democrats, if any one constituency is energized this season it’s conservatives, who are angry about rising deficits, some pollsters said. “There’s real anger on the right, and that anger isn’t matched by enthusiasm on the left,’’ said Dean Debnam, president of Public Policy Polling. “So the emotion is on the side of the far right.’’ [So Obama voters have ADD, what’s new? As far as the emotion being on “the far right,” no Mr. Debnam, the American people by and large reject the direction the hard leftists, who have wrested control of our government away from the people, are trying to take this country and that’s why independents are fleeing the USS Obamatanic in droves…ed]

Medicare Fraud: A $60 Billion Crime

Of all the problems facing the United States right now, none are more important than health care. President Obama says rising costs are driving huge federal budget deficits that imperil our future, and that there is enough waste and fraud in the system to pay for health care reform if it was eliminated. At the center of both issues is Medicare, the government insurance program that provides health care to 46 million elderly and disabled Americans. But it also provides a rich and steady income stream for criminals who are constantly finding new ways to steal a sizable chunk of the half trillion dollars that are paid out each year in Medicare benefits. In fact, Medicare fraud – estimated now to total about $60 billion a year – has become one of, if not the most profitable, crimes in America. [Hey Obama, how about you clowns find a way to stop the rampant fraud and waste in Medicare BEFORE you take over the best healthcare system in the world that vast majority of us are very happy with?…ed]

Why has the price of gas jumped 18 cents a gallon?

Why are gasoline prices going up so much? I suppose I should be happy I am paying only $2.69 a gallon for mid-grade, instead of the $4.10 I paid in 2008. But it seems like the economy is not booming and oil supply exceeds demand, which would suggest oil prices — and hence gasoline prices — should be dropping. But they’re not. And the reason is the same as last year — speculators. How much are gasoline prices up? CNN reports they popped 18 cents in the last two weeks. Self-serve regular was $2.655 as of October 23 — up 17.82 cents since the last Lundberg Survey on October 9. Naturally, there are wide variations in price around the country — CNN notes that the price is $2.67 in the Midwest; $2.62 on the East Coast; $2.52 for the Gulf Coast; $2.51 in the Rockies. Anchorage, Alaska, at $3.25 per gallon, has the highest price and Tucson, Arizona, the lowest at $2.24. [Why are gas prices rising when the summer driving season is over, we have more oil than we know what to do with, gasoline inventories are at a very high level and refineries are running at the lowest capacity due to lack of demand in two decades? Gee, maybe it’s chiefly due to the economic policies of this disastrous Obama administration causing the dollar to crash and burn??…ed]

President Obama ties George W. Bush on golf

President Barack Obama has only been in office for just over nine months, but he’s already hit the links as much as President Bush did in over two years. CBS’ Mark Knoller — an unofficial documentarian and statistician of all things White House-related — wrote on his Twitter feed that, “Today – Obama ties Pres. Bush in the number of rounds of golf played in office: 24. Took Bush 2 yrs & 10 months.” [I remember the left wing media whining every time Bush hit the links but with Mr. Michelle Obama, not so much. Quote of the day.

We would not be honoring the lives of the troops who died if we left here without finishing our mission, and many troops are concerned that the American people have forgotten why we came here to begin with.
