Obama offers millions in Muslim technology fund

The White House Friday highlighted a new multi-million-dollar technology fund for Muslim nations, following a pledge made by President Barack Obama in his landmark speech to the Islamic world. The White House said the US Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) had issued a call for proposals for the fund, which will provide financing of between 25 and 150 million dollars for selected projects and funds. The Global Technology and Innovation Fund will “catalyze and facilitate private sector investments” throughout Asia, the Middle East and Africa, the White House said in a statement. Eligible projects would advance economic opportunity and create jobs in areas like technology, education, telecoms, media, business services and clean technology, the White House said. Obama declares swine flu a national emergency

President Barack Obama declared the swine flu outbreak a national emergency and empowered his health secretary to suspend federal guidelines at hospitals and speed up how infected people might receive treatment in a disaster. The declaration that Obama signed late Friday means Health and Human Services chief Kathleen Sebelius to bypass federal rules when opening alternative care sites, such as offsite hospital centers at schools or community centers, if needed. Hospitals could modify patient rules — for example, requiring them to give less information during a hectic time — to quicken access to treatment, with government approval. The declaration, which the White House announced Saturday, allows HHS in some cases to let hospitals relocate emergency rooms offsite to reduce flu-related burdens and to protect noninfected patients. The pharmaceutical industry, with public health officials and the mainstream media acting as a mass marketing team, is about to pull off the biggest profiteering scheme in the history of the world. The swine flu hoax, perpetrated on a global level, will generate unheard of profits from a non-existent pandemic. The Obama administration declared the spread of swine flu a public health emergency on April 26, 2009. The Associated Press reported that “Swine flu is now formally a pandemic, a declaration by U.N. health officials that will speed vaccine production and spur government spending to combat the first global flu epidemic in 41 years,” on June 11, 2009. (SNIP) Since the “highest alert” warning was issued, the only estimation that has turned out to be true is that the drug companies are experiencing a windfall of tax dollars pouring into their coffers. Soros calls Wall St profits ‘gifts’ from state

The big profits made by some of Wall Street’s leading banks are “hidden gifts” from the state, and taxpayer resentment of such companies is “justified”, George Soros, the fund manager, said in an interview with the Financial Times. “Those earnings are not the achievement of risk-takers,” Mr Soros said. “These are gifts, hidden gifts, from the government, so I don’t think that those monies should be used to pay bonuses. There’s a resentment which I think is justified.” Mr Soros, who joins a transatlantic chorus calling for limits on risk, leverage and compensation at big banks, said proprietary traders belong at hedge funds, not at banks, and that the compensation at Wall Street companies should be limited to prevent excessive risk. “With the too-big-to-fail concept comes a need to regulate the payments that employees receive,” said Mr Soros, who will elaborate on his views in lectures in Budapest next week. He tried it with health care with speech after speech after exclusive interview for months on end, and the more he explained the more unpopular the whole racket got. Obama vs. The American Businessman

Okay, it’s time to finally admit it: Barack Obama hates businessmen. Not just certain businessmen, mind you, but the entire profession. Of course President Obama will deny this. He told Businessweek magazine in a recent interview that he is not anti-business and that he believes in the private sector. But the evidence is overwhelming, and it helps explain why he is pursuing kamakazi-like economic policies that will damage the private sector in America. Obama has demonized just about every business sector in America. Through the 2008 campaign to the present, he has gone after credit card companies, the coal industry, mortgage companies, real estate companies, steelmakers, utilities, drug companies, doctors, oil companies, Wall Street, defense contractors, and health insurance companies, just to name a few. In each case he has dinged them for greed, taking excessive profits, and failing to put people first. His criticisms have not been over minor matters but over their basic core functions, and their values or lack of them. [I like how this author snuck in this little gem, “He likened the presence of corporations in his native Africa to a form of “neocolonialism.” There is overwhelming evidence this guy was indeed born in Kenya and that’s why he has spent over a million dollars fighting lawsuits brought about in an effort to get his true birth records revealed…ed]

Media Discovering that Obama Balloon a Hoax

It was a tremendous run in voyeurism while it lasted. It was big and shiny and puffed up and filled with hot air. It rose quickly and soared high and far. It was larger than life. But it couldn’t stay afloat forever. The Obama image was put together with duct tape and glue. It was a complete fabrication. It is now deflating and heading to earth. Nato backs McChrystal in snub to Biden plan

Nato defence ministers signalled their backing for the Afghan strategy put forward by the American commander General Stanley McChrystal yesterday in an implicit rejection of the alternative plan proposed by US Vice-President Joe Biden. The general had made an unscheduled appearance at the meeting of ministers in Bratislava, Slovakia, to give a presentation behind closed doors. Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the Nato secretary general, said: “What we did today was to discuss General McChrystal’s overall assessment, his overall approach, and I have noted a broad support from all ministers of this overall counter-insurgency approach.” [First, it’s not “Biden’s plan” it’s OBAMA’S plan and no kidding NATO ministers would listen to the man who is actually commanding the troops in the field over the politicians who are more worried about getting re-elected than the lives of our guys in Afghanistan…ed]

President Obama helped raise $600,000 Friday for Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick’s reelection campaign – and it looks as if the governor is going to need it. Governor Patrick faces an uphill battle in his bid for reelection in 2010, largely due to voters’ perceptions of how he has handled the state’s economy. Recent polls show him trailing his Republican challengers, despite the fact that registered Democrats outnumber Republicans in Massachusetts 3 to 1. At a fundraising luncheon Friday, the president said, “I want everybody to understand this: What happens in Massachusetts is going to have implications all across the country.” [Looks like Obama’s Mini Me, who was elected by the guilt tripping liberals in this bluest of blue states simply because he is black, is gonna crash and burn big time the second time around. Democrats Vote To Give ACORN Regulatory Authority Over Financial Institutions

During consideration of H.R. 3126, legislation to establish a Consumer Financial Protection Agency (CFPA), Democrats on the House Financial Services Committee voted to pass an amendment offered by Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) that will make ACORN eligible to play a role in setting regulations for financial institutions. The Waters amendment adds to the CFPA Oversight Board 5 representatives from the fields of “consumer protection, fair lending and civil rights, representatives of depository institutions that primarily serve underserved communities, or representatives of communities that have been significantly impacted by higher-priced mortgages” to join Federal banking regulators in advising the Director on the consistency of proposed regulations, and strategies and policies that the Director should undertake to enforce its rules. [ACORN is back in the game with the help of the despicable Maxine Waters. How long do you suppose it will be until we hear about this in the mainstream media?…ed]

Sikh gets rare permission to wear turban, beard in US Army

The US Army on Friday granted a Sikh permission to serve on active duty while wearing a turban, long hair and beard in a rare exception allowing him to display his religious faith. Captain Kamaljeet Singh Kalsi, who had trained as an Army doctor, would become the first Sikh in more than 23 years to receive the exception, the New York-based Sikh coalition said. Kalsi successfully appealed an order he received earlier this year to cut his hair and remove his turban before showing up for active duty. The Army prohibits soldiers or officers from displaying religious symbols while on duty, but allows soldiers to seek waivers on a case- by-case basis, Lieutenant Colonel George Wright, an Army spokesman, said. Study: Cell phone link to brain tumors

A groundbreaking, $30 million study into cell phones has found a link between long term use and brain tumors. The World Health Organization is about to reveal that its decade-long investigation has found the devices can lead to cancer — and the internationally-respected body will soon issue a public health message with its findings, London’s Daily Telegraph reported today. The conclusion goes against years of assurances by cell phone companies and scientists that cell phone use is safe. DHS admits 90 percent of U.S. borders wide open, Americans remain at risk

The Department of Homeland Security has just reported that only 894 miles of this country’s 8,607 miles of America’s land borders, are actually being protected. The announcement came in the agency’s 2009 Performance Report. While that admission is maddening, given the federal government’s recent history on border issues, it should come as a surprise to no one. We have seen the Obama administration water-down the highly effective 287g program, covertly offer government funded healthcare to illegal aliens, and promise amnesty to illegal aliens. Of course, the Bush administration was every bit as weak on the issue of controlling the border as are their successors. Democrat blasts White House for anonymous sniping

A well-known Democratic strategist in Virginia is blasting the White House for placing anonymous quotes in the Washington Post in a pre-emptive effort to blame Creigh Deeds for what might be a loss in the state’s upcoming gubernatorial election. David “Mudcat” Saunders, who gained political fame helping Democrat Mark Warner reach out to rural voters during Warner’s successful 2001 gubernatorial bid, told CNN Friday that trying to blame Deeds is “bulls**t” when Democrats around the country are “just tired of politics.” “The Democrats right now are a real bruised brand right now where I am,” Saunders said in a phone interview from his home near Roanoke. “There was so much energy put into last year’s race, everybody’s just burned out. You can’t get anybody fired up.” [Even Obama’s own party is getting sick and tired of his and his administration’s juvenile behavior…ed]

Muslim student, 18, banned from college because she refuses to remove her burkha

A Muslim student has been banned from enrolling at a college because she refused to remove her burkha. Shawana Bilqes, 18, wanted to wear the garment – which covers her body and face, leaving only her eyes visible – during lessons. But staff at Burnley College refused to enrol her, claiming the burkha was a barrier to ‘safety and communication’. In a strongly worded statement, the college said ‘unimpeded’ face to face contact between teachers and students was vital. Miss Bilqes, who wanted to study an access course for a diploma, has now been forced to abandon her plans and is looking elsewhere to complete her studies. Congressman Says He Now Has ‘About 40 Likeminded Democrats’ Who Will Vote to Kill Health Bill if He Doesn’t Get Floor Vote on Pro-Life Amendment

Rep. Bart Stupak (D.-Mich.) told CNSNews.com yesterday that he has organized a group of “about 40 likeminded Democrats” who will vote to kill the health-care bill if House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) does not allow a floor vote on his amendment to prohibit federal funds from going to insurance plans that cover abortion. Under Stupak’s plan, the approximately 40 Democrats in his camp would join with all House Republicans in voting to defeat the special House “rule” that would set the terms for debating and amending the health-care bill on the House floor when it is brought up for a final vote. If a majority of the House does not first vote to approve this rule, the health-care bill itself cannot be brought to the floor. [Who knew there were some stand up Democrats in the House with the sack to take on Pelosi?…ed]
