The Public Option Deception (with Exclusive New Audio)

The public option has been a political football since early summer. The President has said more than once that he prefers it but will not demand it. This was considered capitulation by many on the left who see the public option as necessary for “real” reform. Meanwhile, belying the President’s public statements, there are reports that the President’s Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel has been quietly but firmly twisting arms in the back rooms to insure the public option is included in the final bill. Even now, pressure is mounting on Harry Reid to include the public option in the health reform bill he brings to the Senate floor. [See how the lying deceitful Democrats are conspiring to screw us all into a government run health care plan against the wishes of the majority of Americans. This one is a must read!…ed]

Public-Option Polling

The Washington Post poll is the latest example of a “public poll” in the past 2–3 weeks that curiously shows a growing number of Americans supportive of the “public option.” AP and Gallup were others. This is agenda-driven polling. The fact is: Asking an ignorant public about the “public option” is incomplete polling. It calls for a response to feel-good phraseology rather than a probing of underlying ideology. “Public option” in health care is not so different from “campaign-finance reform,” “Violence against Women’s Act,” “revenue enhancements,” and such. Our side has not done enough to discredit and expose the positive-sounding “public option” for what it truly is: a government grab of one of the most intimate matters people face, and one about which most of them are presently content. [The state run media polling does NOT reflect public opinion, it is purposely designed to SHAPE it for the benefit of the left wing agenda. To a mix of people used to being dependent on government handouts for generations and a frustratingly ignorant public this so called “public option” doesn’t really sound like such a bad idea. The rest of us KNOW what this nonsense is all about…ed]

Is the WaPo Stuffing Its Own Ballot Box for the ‘Public Option’?

he Washington Post touted a new poll on Tuesday that popular support is increasing for a government-run “public option” health care system – just as liberal Democrats try to push that into the Senate Finance Committee bill. The headline was “Public option gains support: Clear majority now backs plan.” So it’s not surprising, as Ed Morrissey found at Hot Air, that the Post is stuffing its poll sample with a few extra Democrats:

The sampling comprises 33% Democrats, as opposed to only 20% Republicans. That thirteen-point spread is two points larger than their September polling, at 32%/21%. More tellingly, it’s significantly larger than their Election Day sample, which included 35% Democrats to 26% Republicans for a gap of nine points, about a third smaller than the gap in this poll. Of course, that’s when they were more concerned about accuracy over political points of view.

The Post’s poll (illustrated by a chart) found respondents favored a public option “to compete with” private insurance by a margin of 57 to 40 percent. But even with the polling sample tilted toward the Democrats, some less favorable findings weren’t in the headline, as Dan Balz and Jon Cohen reported: [I just can’t imagine the Washington Compost rigging their polling with a huge oversampling of Democrats in order to push the the Obama administration mandated trojan horse referred to as (after extensive focus group research) the very misleading term “public option” which is really the precursor to complete government control over our healthcare system…ed]

Hoyer Says Constitution’s ‘General Welfare’ Clause Empowers Congress to Order Americans to Buy Health Insurance

House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said that the individual health insurance mandates included in every health reform bill, which require Americans to have insurance, were “like paying taxes.” He added that Congress has “broad authority” to force Americans to purchase other things as well, so long as it was trying to promote “the general welfare.” The Congressional Budget Office, however, has stated in the past that a mandate forcing Americans to buy health insurance would be an “unprecedented form of federal action,” and that the “government has never required people to buy any good or service as a condition of lawful residence in the United States.” [You know, there are MILLIONS of Americans who feel the “general welfare” clause in our Constitution should be interpreted to include keeping illegal aliens and terrorists the hell out of our country Mr. Hoyer. When are you and your fellow Democrats going to jump on this major problem?…ed]

Grassley Warns HHS Web Site May Be ‘Propaganda’

Senate Finance ranking member Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) is raising concerns that a Department of Health and Human Services Web site that urges visitors to send an e-mail to President Barack Obama praising his health care reform plan may violate rules against government-funded propaganda. The Web page is accessed through a “state your support” button featured prominently on the HHS Web site and carries a disclaimer that the Web site is maintained by HHS. In a letter sent to HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius Tuesday, Grassley warned that “any possible misuse of appropriated funds by the executive branch to engage in publicity or propaganda in support of an Administration priority is a matter that must be investigated and taken seriously,” noting that in 2005 Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) argued that “the use of official funds for similar activities were ‘underhanded tactics’ and that these tactics ‘are not worthy of our great democracy.’” [Good Lord, these left wingers will stop at nothing when it comes to pushing their freakin’ propaganda! What’s next, freeway signs ramming home Obama’s agenda to road weary commuters every day? Unsolicited text messages on our cell phones? Pop up ads on our computers? This crap with these wackos is getting out of hand!…ed]

Sudbury Man Arrested On Terrorism Charges

A man from Sudbury was arrested Wednesday on federal terrorism charges for allegedly planning attacks inside and outside the United States – including a plot to attack people at a mall. 27-year-old Tarek Mehanna was taken into custody at his parents’ home in Fairhaven Circle by federal agents and Sudbury police early this morning. (SNIP) Investigators say Mehanna conspired with others between 2001 and 2008 plotting to “kill, kidnap, maim or injure” people in foreign countries and to kill two members of the Executive Branch of the U.S. government. [Looks like we may have avoided some serious mayhem with the arrest of yet another middle eastern man living in our country who was hell bent on murdering innocent Americans…ed]

House Democrats Lock GOP Out of Committee Room

Democratic staff for the House oversight committee informed their GOP counterparts today that the majority has changed the locks on the committee’s hearing room. While Republicans previously enjoyed their own key to the room, they will now have to request access from Democrats. This followed a bitter partisan argument in which Republicans refused to take down a video from their website that contradicted Dem explanations about a closed-door meeting on the Countrywide VIP loan scandal. As we reported last week, the committee was scheduled to meet on Thursday to mark up several minor pieces of legislation. Days before the meeting, California Republican Darrell Issa notified committee Chairman Edolphus Towns that Mr. Issa would call for a vote to subpoena Countrywide documents from Bank of America, which bought the failed subprime lender last year. Recall that, under the “Friends of Angelo” program, named for former Countrywide CEO Angelo Mozilo, Democratic Senators Chris Dodd and Kent Conrad received sweetheart deals on home mortgages. Mr. Issa wants to uncover the full story on Countrywide’s effort to influence Washington policy makers. Mr. Towns, a New York Democrat who also received mortgages from the unit that processed the VIP loans but claims he received no favors, has opposed such a subpoena. [Is there no end to the stupid silly amateurish behavior from the Democrats? Payback is gonna be a real bitch for these clowns when the American public has had enough of their shenanigans and brings back the GOP ala 1994 in huge numbers…ed]

White House: Media shouldn’t follow Fox

A White House attempt to delegitimize Fox News – which in past times would have drawn howls of censorship from the press corps – has instead been greeted by a collective shrug. That’s true even though the motivations of the White House are clear: Fire up a liberal base disillusioned with Obama by attacking the hated Fox. Try to keep a critical news outlet off-balance. Raise doubts about future Fox stories. But most of all, get other journalists to think twice before following the network’s stories in their own coverage. “We’re doing what we think is important to make sure news is covered as fairly as possible,” a White House official told POLITICO, noting how the recent ACORN scandal story started because Fox covered it “breathlessly for weeks on end.” [The White House is pissed because of the responsible and devastating reporting coming out of this news organization concerning all of the crooks and corruption surrounding Mr. Michelle Obama as opposed to the never ending sack licking the rest of the media has been giving to our first half black president…ed]

Today’s Qs for O’s WH – 10/20/2009

From this morning’s gaggle in White House press secretary Robert Gibbs’ office:

Tapper: It’s escaped none of our notice that the White House has decided in the last few weeks to declare one of our sister organizations “not a news organization” and to tell the rest of us not to treat them like a news organization. Can you explain why it’s appropriate for the White House to decide that a news organization is not one –

(Crosstalk)

Gibbs: Jake, we render, we render an opinion based on some of their coverage and the fairness that, the fairness of that coverage.

Tapper: But that’s a pretty sweeping declaration that they are “not a news organization.” How are they any different from, say –

Gibbs: ABC –

Tapper: ABC. MSNBC. Univision. I mean how are they any different?

Gibbs: You and I should watch sometime around 9 o’clock tonight. Or 5 o’clock this afternoon.

Tapper: I’m not talking about their opinion programming or issues you have with certain reports. I’m talking about saying thousands of individuals who work for a media organization, do not work for a “news organization” — why is that appropriate for the White House to say?

Gibbs: That’s our opinion.

Media Matters & President Obama in Lockstep

Revival of right-wing conspiracy charges are all the rage in the age of Obama, but liberals are just playing the same old shell game. The real action is on the left, with lockstep collusion by the President with Soros-funded Media Matters. While the President sends his surrogates onto national network programs to decry Fox News, Media Matters is behind the scenes working its Fight Fox campaign. Media Matters’ president, Eric Burns, sent out the Fight Fox campaign announcement to supporters on September 17 and explained why Fox had to be driven out of the national political conversation. Translation: Fox is a thorn in the side of the Chavez-minded leftists. Daily Presidential Tracking Poll: Wednesday, October 21, 2009

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Wednesday shows that 27% of the nation’s voters Strongly Approve of the way that Barack Obama is performing his role as President. Forty percent (40%) Strongly Disapprove giving Obama a Presidential Approval Index rating of -13. That’s just a point above the lowest level ever recorded for this President. It’s also the sixth straight day in negative double digits, matching the longest such streak. Just say no to blasphemy laws

Around the world, free speech is being sacrificed on the altar of religion. Whether defined as hate speech, discrimination or simple blasphemy, governments are declaring unlimited free speech as the enemy of freedom of religion. This growing movement has reached the United Nations, where religiously conservative countries received a boost in their campaign to pass an international blasphemy law. It came from the most unlikely of places: the United States. While attracting surprisingly little attention, the Obama administration supported the effort of largely Muslim nations in the U.N. Human Rights Council to recognize exceptions to free speech for any “negative racial and religious stereotyping.” The exception was made as part of a resolution supporting free speech that passed this month, but it is the exception, not the rule that worries civil libertarians. [This crap has nothing to do with protecting ALL religion from verbal “attacks” or blasphemy, it has everything to do with Western countries capitulating to a well organized plan by muslims, with a very welcome hand from their good buddy B. HUSSEIN Obama, to take over the globe without firing a shot or blowing themselves to pieces…ed]

Matt Drudge for Treasury

Newsman Matt Drudge is being blamed for the collapse of the dollar, we see on the website politico.com. The Washington based news site has issued a story reporting that Mr. Drudge has developed what Politico calls “a fascination” with the declining dollar. It quotes some sources as doubting that Mr. Drudge moves the market per se. But it quotes others who think he does and that it’s political. It quotes the director of the Pew Research Center, Tom Rosenstiel, as saying in respect of the greenback that Mr. Drudge is “fixated on it” and adding that there’s “no question that Drudge can alter what people are paying attention to.” By Politico’s count, Mr. Drudge has posted a link to the dollar story 18 times in the first 20 days of October. [How can a guy who simply posts links to news stories on his website, while very rarely editorializing on anything, get the blame for the terrible fiscal policies of at least the last two administrations which have caused the virtual collapse of the dollar? Or perhaps this is just the latest example of the state run media following orders from the White House to attempt to de-legitimize yet another media source they feel is unfriendly towards their leftist agenda?…ed]

An Easy Military Decision for Obama: Asks ‘Brave’ Troops to Compete in Green Government Contest

President Barack Obama signed an executive order earlier this month requiring federal agencies to set a 2020 greenhouse gas emission reduction target within 90 days – and he followed up by asking “our brave men and women in uniform” and government employees to compete in the GreenGov Challenge. “As the largest consumer of energy in the U.S. economy, the federal government can and should lead by example when it comes to creating innovative ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase energy efficiency, conserve water, reduce waste, and use environmentally responsible products and technologies,” Obama said when he signed the order on Oct. 5. Treasury Said to Set Pay Cuts for Aid Recipients’ Executives

The Obama administration will order seven companies that received the most government assistance to cut salaries of top executives by 90 percent on average, a person familiar with the situation said. Wal-Mart fires employee for chasing after thief

Josh Rutner said he was just doing his job as a Wal-Mart “asset protection officer” earlier this month when he chased a knife-wielding theft suspect across the store parking lot. The man, later identified as Marc Ash, was arrested by Ocala police and the merchandise was recovered. The next day, Wal-Mart fired Rutner. Rutner said it boiled down to doing what was right or following policy. For him, it was an easy choice. “I couldn’t let him get away,” Rutner said. “That’s wrong.” But Michelle Bradford, a Wal-Mart Stores Inc. spokeswoman, said the store’s no-chase policy is clear. [If the company has a “no chase” policy and the young man was aware of it then there isn’t much to see here…BUT, thanks Wal Mart for telling every bad guy out there they won’t be chased after if they do indeed steal from the store and bolt out the door without paying. Newark airport guard accused of Obama threat

A private security guard at Newark Liberty International Airport was arrested on charges of threatening Barack Obama, the night before the president was to fly there. Someone overheard John Brek making threatening comments at an airport coffee cart Tuesday afternoon. The 55-year-old was arrested several hours later, Port Authority spokesman John Kelly said. He denied making the threats, said Malcolm Wiley, a spokesman for the U.S. Secret Service. [It looks these days like anybody can claim they heard you make negative comments about “The Resident of the United States” and you run the risk of the ninny calling the cops and ratting your ass out whether it was truly a “threat” or not…ed]
