After ‘Inappropriate’ NEA Conference Call, White House Pushes New Guidelines

An August 10, 2009 National Endowment for the Arts conference call in which artists were asked to help support President Obama’s agenda — a call that at least one good government group called “inappropriate” — has prompted the White House to issue new guidelines to prevent such a call from ever happening again. “The point of the call was to encourage voluntary participation in a national service initiative by the arts community,” White House spokesman Bill Burton told ABC News. “To the extent there was any misunderstanding about what the NEA may do to support the national service initiative, we will correct it. We regret any comments on the call that may have been misunderstood or troubled other participants. (SNIP) The Hatch Act restricts the political activity of executive branch employees of the federal government. [“Inappropriate” my ass, how about ILLEGAL!? Biden on 2010: If GOP Succeeds, It’s ‘The End of the Road for What Barack and I Are Trying to Do’

Vice President Joe Biden said today that if Democrats were to lose 35 House seats they currently hold in traditionally Republican districts, it would mean doomsday for President Obama’s agenda. Biden said Republicans are pinning their political strategy on flipping these seats. “If they take them back, this the end of the road for what Barack and I are trying to do,” the vice president said at a fundraiser for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ) today in Greenville, Delaware. Republicans need to pick up 40 seats next November to take back control of the House. There are 49 seats currently held by Democrats in districts that Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz) won in last year’s presidential election. Biden said these House seats are Republicans “one shot” at breaking the Obama administration’s agenda. [If this bozo’s admission that the GOP can stop this train wreck of an administration in 2010 doesn’t get the party faithful motivated and off their asses pretty much nothing else will…ed]

Michelle Obama’s revenge for flirts

Michelle Obama gave her husband the silent treatment at one point in his campaign for president because so many women “pushed their bodies up against his, slipped phone numbers into his pockets” and whispered lewd suggestions in his ear, a new book out today claims. In “Barack and Michelle: Portrait of an American Marriage” (William Morrow), Christopher Andersen reports, “On more than one occasion, Barack tried not to look startled when some random woman in the crowd would grasp him firmly by the derriere — and sometimes try to hold on.” After an appearance in Peoria, Ill., the future president slid into the back of his SUV, and allegedly said, “Jesus, I wish they’d stop grabbing my ass.” [I think Michelle Obama should probably be more concerned with her husband going all hotel motel with some other fella at least according to some guy named Larry Sinclair…ed]

Joe Wilson passes $2 million mark

South Carolina Republican congressman Joe Wilson has now raised over $2 million in campaign contributions since he shouted “You lie!” at the president earlier this month. A campaign aide confirmed that Wilson surpassed the $2 million mark on Monday. [Perhaps all this money rolling in is because every time Øbama opens his mouth he lies??…ed]

FACT CHECK: Coverage requirement enforced with tax

Memo to President Barack Obama: It’s a tax. Obama insisted this weekend on national television that requiring people to carry health insurance — and fining them if they don’t — isn’t the same thing as a tax increase. But the language of Democratic bills to revamp the nation’s health care system doesn’t quibble. Both the House bill and the Senate Finance Committee proposal clearly state that the fines would be a tax. And the reason the fines are in the legislation is to enforce the coverage requirement. “If you put something in the Internal Revenue Code, and you tell the IRS to collect it, I think that’s a tax,” said Clint Stretch, head of the tax policy group for Deloitte, a major accounting firm. “If you don’t pay, the person who’s going to come and get it is going to be from the IRS.” [Oh so you mean Øbama WASN’T telling the truth on all those Sunday shows? Terror probe widens in U.S.

Federal authorities have tied as many as a dozen people to a suspected Al Qaeda-linked bomb plot on U.S. soil as they continue to gather evidence to indict on terrorism charges the young Afghan immigrant at the center of the case, law enforcement officials said Monday. Authorities said that they did not know the exact number of potential suspects or many of their identities, but that they had been connected through electronic intercepts, surveillance, seized evidence and interviews. A federal law enforcement official and others, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the high level of secrecy surrounding the investigation, said the suspects appeared concentrated in the New York area, with possibly others in the suspect’s home state of Colorado and elsewhere. [New York Democrats outnumber Republicans 5 to 1 so the odds are overwhelming that it will be mostly liberals that bite the big one if the nonexistent (according to Øbama) terrorists blow something to hell. I wonder, how’s that hope and change you can believe in workin’ for you dolts who voted for this wimp?…ed]

‘Barack and Michelle’ tells story behind domestic tension that nearly ruined the Obamas’ marriage

There was something different about the screams this time. They were more piercing, more frantic and insistent. As usual, it was Michelle who climbed out of bed first and made her way to Sasha’s room while Daddy stayed in bed, hoping his 3-month-old daughter would quickly be lulled back to sleep. (SNIP) You only think about yourself,” she would say to him again and again in a tone dripping with disdain. “I never thought I’d have to raise a family alone.” Barack, convinced that whatever time he devoted to his career would ultimately benefit his wife and daughter, shrugged off the criticism. “Barack just doesn’t seem to care what I think,” a frustrated Michelle complained to her mother, Marian Robinson. “He can be so selfish – and I just can’t get through to him that we’re supposed to be in this together.” [B. Hussein Øbama is a slob, selfish and only cares about himself? CBS: Ben Stein Slams CNN’s Carville for Calling 9/12 Protestors ‘Classless’

Appearing on CBS’s Sunday Morning, commentator Ben Stein ripped into CNN political analyst James Carville for claiming anti-Obama protestors were “classless”: “the elitist anger of the liberal Democrats is boiling over as some ordinary citizens show they don’t like being pushed around….Contempt for the ordinary citizen is just not American and it does not win elections.” Earlier in his commentary, Stein wondered: “I thought the Democrats were the party of the little guys and those who aren’t classy or well born…So now the Democrats are admitting they’re the party of the rich?” He went on to point out that Democrats have “been getting the lion’s share of very large political gifts for years now. The truth is that the Democrats are the fat cats. I’m impressed that Mr. Carville admitted it. I like him more than ever now.” [Talk about classless. Iran welcomes nixing of Europe defense shield

Iran on Monday welcomed Washington’s decision to cancel plans to deploy an anti-ballistic missile system in Eastern Europe. “The Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes any act that causes a reduction in the conventional arms race,” Hassan Qashqavi, spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, was quoted as saying by Iranian PressTV news agency. According to the report, Qahqavi rejected the claim that the system was meant to face an Iranian missile threat, calling it a baseless political claim. Think flying economy is bad now? New aircraft design puts passengers face-to-face in rows for budget travel

Air travel is being overhauled with a new aircraft design which plans to seat passengers facing each other in rows. The controversial design is intended to save space and money and could see 50 per cent more passengers packed on to each plane. Howard Guy, director of the UK company Design Q, acknowledges that some people will not be happy with the plan, but says they will be able to pay less for any inconvenience. ‘Having passengers face each other is not an ideal situation,’ he said. ‘But this will see increased revenue for the operator and more economical tickets for the passenger – so by keeping both happy, this concept makes an attractive alternative. Radicals Wrote Failed Stimulus

If the stimulus isn’t working, perhaps it’s because it was largely written by a collection of leftist interest groups called the Apollo Alliance that counts among its directors a co-founder of the Weather Underground. The Labor Department reported Friday that 42 states lost more jobs than they gained in August, and that 14 plus Washington, D.C., reported unemployment rates of 10% or more. Michigan’s rate rose to 15.2%, highest in the nation. Nevada, represented by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, is second with 13.2%. California, home of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is tied for fourth with Oregon at 12.2%. Clearly, the stimulus bill that no congressman read is not working. As it turns out, no congressman may have written it either. [Time for another march on Washington but this time with pitchforks in hand…ed]

Obama energy secretary to Americans: Stop acting like teenagers!

When Secretary of Energy Steven Chu thinks of the American people, he apparently sees a bunch of unruly teenagers who need to be told how to act. Asked at a seminar on reconstructing America’s electrical grid about the Obama administration’s efforts to persuade people to conserve energy, Chu said “the American public…just like your teenage kids, aren’t acting in a way that they should act. The American public has to really understand in their core how important this issue is,” according to The Wall Street Journal. And, notes the Journal’s Ian Talley, the Obama administration is spending big to tell us what we should be doing on the energy issues: “The administration aims to teach them—literally. The Environmental Protection Agency is focusing on real children. Partnering with the Parent Teacher Organization, the agency earlier this month launched a cross-country tour of 6,000 schools to teach students about climate change and energy efficiency. [See, this is why I hate liberals with a passion. If they are so concerned about this bogus climate change crap and man’s impact on the planet then why don’t they all head off to the nearest coast, hold each other’s hands then happily walk into the ocean and drown themselves?…ed]

Last day of summer brings snow, cold to Colorado

The last day of summer is bringing light snow, chilly temperatures and freeze warnings across Colorado. Light snow was reported Monday in Vail and other mountain towns. At least 3 inches of snow fell in parts of the foothills west of Denver. A freeze warning has been issued for parts of northwest and southwest Colorado and the San Luis Valley in south-central Colorado from midnight Monday until 9 a.m. Tuesday. [Global warming my ass…ed]

40% of UK cocaine laced with poison: Animal wormer causes fatal seizures

Drug dealers are mixing pure cocaine with tetramisole to make it go further. The white powder is supposed to be used for worming animals. But large doses can poison humans, leading to fever and difficulty breathing caused by the swelling of lips and throat. Victims are also at risk of losing consciousness, numbness and seizures. Tetramisole also weakens the immune system – making cocaine users more susceptible to infections. Professor Simon Thomas, a poisons expert, said: “Uncontaminated cocaine has very dangerous effects in some users, including heart attacks and strokes. [Cocaine itself is a nasty poison so the solution is simple. Keep this crap out of your body and you have nothing to worry about…ed]

Most Traffic Growth To UK News Sites Is Coming From U.S.

We’ve often written about how UK newspaper sites get a healthy number of visitors from the US, mainly via Drudge Report referrals (see Neil Thurman’s academic study). Now web measurer Hitwise says traffic to Brit news sites from across the pond is growing nearly seven times as fast as that domestically. Analyst Robin Goad says Drudge is still the biggest aggregation referrer to UK news sites (bringing 10.6 percent of visits in August), followed by Google (NSDQ: GOOG) News (5.3 percent). But Google search is still the big traffic giver (13.5 percent); email’s a big referrer, too. Ways and Means Chairman: ‘Illegal Aliens–I Mean They Do Get Health Care’

House Ways and Means Chairman Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) suggested in an interview with CNSNews.com last week that the health care reform plan under consideration in Congress will save money by moving illegal aliens off the roles of “uninsured” people where the cost of the health care they do get is absorbed by people who are insured and where they benefit from federal expenditures. Rangel’s spokesman later clarified to CNSNews.com, however, that illegal aliens are not covered under the House health care bill, which was drafted in part by the Ways and Means Committee that Rep. Rangel chairs. [Funny how when these guys actually tell the truth their spokespeople always have to come along and “clarify” (lie about) what they really meant to say…ed]

Cop caught on MP3 gets 4 months in prison for perjury

A veteran NYPD detective today was sentenced to four months in prison for lying at the trial of a teen who shot another man in the face in the Bronx. Former Detective Christopher Perino had faced seven years behind bars for denying having questioned Erik Crespo, 17, who shot his victim on Christmas Day. But the youth had recorded the 70-minute interrogation on his MP3 player. Crespo, who had been facing 15 years in jail, plea bargained his way to a seven-year sentence and remains free pending an appeal. (SNIP) Perino’s conviction also cost him his job, pension and health benefits, estimated to be worth $3 million. Detroit cop shoots wife, himself in Canton

Shots rang out in the parking lot of the Canton Public Library this morning as an off-duty Detroit Police homicide investigator shot and killed his wife, also a DPD officer, and then shot himself, according to investigators. Ed Williams, 36, is on life support pending organ donation, Canton Police spokesman Mark Gajeski said at noon. His wife, Patricia, 33, was declared dead upon arrival at Oakwood Annapolis Hospital in Wayne just after the 9:16 a.m. shooting, he said. Prince Charles urges people to abandon car in favour of walking and public transport

The Prince, who has two Jaguars, two Audis, a Range Rover and still drives an Aston Martin given to him by the Queen on his 21st birthday, said developers had a duty to put public transport and the pedestrian at the heart of their housing schemes. Speaking about the “domination of the car over the pedestrian”, the future King said: “We must surely be able to organise ourselves… in ways in which we are not dependent on it to such a great extent for our daily needs.” [Another limousine liberal exhorts all of us peons to do something he would never dream of doing. Stadiums, hotels warned to watch for terrorists

Counterterrorism officials have issued security bulletins to police around the nation about terrorists’ desire to attack stadiums, entertainment complexes and hotels—the latest in a flurry of such internal warnings as investigators chase a possible bomb plot in Denver and New York. In the two bulletins—sent to police departments Monday and obtained by The Associated Press—officials said they know of no specific plots against such sites, but urged law enforcement and private companies to be vigilant. These two bulletins followed on the heels of a similar warning about the vulnerabilities of mass transit systems. [Say, wouldn’t an alleged “terrorist attack” be a terrific opportunity for declaring, if not outright martial law, some severe restrictions on our Constitutional protections by this anti American Øbama administration? And how is law enforcement supposed to be “vigilant?” By PROFILING people perhaps?…ed]

Quote of the day.

I’m always worried about using the word ‘victory,’ because, you know, it invokes this notion of Emperor Hirohito coming down and signing a surrender to MacArthur

-Barack Øbama, July 09 relaying his thoughts about winning, I mean losing the war in Afghanistan. By the way Mr. Øbama, it wasn’t Japanese Emperer Hirohito who signed the surrender documents on the deck of the U.S.S. Missouri it was General Yoshijiro Umezu. Too bad we can’t get our hands on this guy’s school transcripts huh?
