President Obama has sent a request to Gov. David A. Paterson that he withdraw from the New York governor’s race, fearing that Mr. Paterson cannot recover from his dismal political standing, according to two senior administration officials and a New York Democratic operative with direct knowledge of the situation. The decision to ask Mr. Paterson to step aside was proposed by political advisers to Mr. Obama, but approved by the president himself, one of the administration officials said. ACORN CEO ‘Outraged’ by Behavior of Employees in Prostitute Tapes
ACORN’s top officer said Sunday that she was “outraged” by the content of hidden-camera videotapes showing her organization’s employees offering advice to undercover filmmakers posing as a pimp and prostitute, as she pledged to “reform” the inner workings of the activist group. Chief organizer Bertha Lewis tried to calm a growing firestorm over the behavior of her group’s employees. NYC Plot Suspect, 2 Others Arrested in Federal Terror Probe
he FBI arrested a 24-year-old Colorado man on charges of making false statements to federal agents in an ongoing terror investigation, and supporting documents contend the man admitted receiving weapons and explosives training from Al Qaeda in Pakistan. Najibullah Zazi of the Denver suburb of Aurora was arrested late Saturday after undergoing three days of questioning by the FBI. Zazi, a legal permanent resident from Afghanistan, was due to appear in federal court on Monday. [You know it really wouldn’t be that hard to keep these types the hell out of this country but it almost seems as though some folks in the federal government actually WANT them here. If you haven’t already jumped back into stocks and logged impressive spring and summer gains, the markets’ rise to Friday’s highs appears to have no solid footing in reality. Without corporate profits, increased consumer spending, job growth or an active credit market, this rally seems to be fueled by fast institutional money.
