Argentine ants have taken over the world. We’re doomed.

A single mega-colony of ants has colonised much of the world, scientists have discovered. Argentine ants living in vast numbers across Europe, the US and Japan belong to the same inter-related colony, and will refuse to fight one another. The colony may be the largest of its type ever known for any insect species, and could rival humans in the scale of its world domination. What’s more, people are unwittingly helping the mega-colony stick together.

That’s according to a recent study that claims the more unpopular, uncommon or feminine a boy’s first name, the greater the chance he will end up behind bars.

You see, there was just this one little six second problem with the DVD a CA teacher gave her students to commemorate the school year.

A Northern California elementary school teacher sent her students home for the summer with a video of class memories, only the DVD included six seconds of her having sex on a couch. Officials at the Elk Grove Unified School District asked families of the teacher’s 24 students to get rid of the DVD after the unintended clip was found spliced in a scene where children were sharing stories in class.

This global warming swindle is now being used to explain why we have a bunch of shrinkin’ sheep.

Warmer weather is causing a famous breed of Scottish sheep to get smaller, according to research published in a leading scientific journal. Evolutionary theory holds that species get bigger and stronger over time because larger, more dominant animals are more likely to reproduce. But wild sheep on the Scottish island of Hirta have baffled scientists since 2007 when the animals’ average size appeared to be shrinking.

Michele Obama’s White House garden tests positive for lead. I wonder what prompted someone to look into this in the first place?

Elderly couple who ran home day care center arrested after kids found stuffed into backyard shed.

Josh Romo wondered why his 2-year-old daughter sometimes dreaded going to her day care in Sealy. “Now we know,” he said Thursday after hearing news that state child welfare officials reported they found children stashed in a shed Wednesday at the Sealy in-home day care operation. His daughter was among the children in the shed. “That lady’s going to hate me when she sees me,” the 31-year-old father said about one of the day care center’s owners. “Lock ’em up.” The children — locked in the storage shed with gasoline, lawn equipment and insecticides — appear to be unharmed, Sealy police said.

British woman was dead in her apartment for five years until someone bothered to look in on what was left of her.

An elderly woman may have lain dead in her flat for five years even though she was in a city centre and surrounded by neighbours. Isabella Purves was once a familiar figure on the streets around her Edinburgh home, where the public-spirited pensioner would regularly be seen clearing up litter to spruce up the neighbourhood. She vanished from sight around 2004 but – in a shocking example of the erosion of community spirit in modern-day Britain – the alarm was only raised when a neighbour reported water dripping through the ceiling.
