A US Airways flight to Los Angeles was diverted to Albuquerque after a Bronx man removed all of his clothing midflight, forcing flight attendants to cover him with a blanket before he was arrested. Keith Wright, 50, was taken into custody by airport authorities after he disrobed in his seat in the back of Flight 705 Tuesday night, authorities said.

The coroner in Cincinnati says the city’s first heat-related death of the summer occurred when an elderly woman turned on the heat when she meant to turn on her air conditioning. Hamilton County Coroner O’dell Owens says 84-year-old Fannie Shockley misread the thermostat in her apartment and died June 23, a day the temperature hit 87 degrees outdoors.

The 2-year-old girl killed by an albino Burmese python Wednesday in Sumter County died of asphyxia, according to preliminary results released moments ago from an autopsy being conducted. The toddler, Shaiunna Hare, also had bite marks from the snake on her forehead and arms. The autopsy is being conducted by the District 5 Medical Examiner’s Office, which serves Citrus, Hernando, Lake, Marion and Sumter counties.

Twenty-one Marines will take the oath of allegiance for citizenship Saturday in a naturalization ceremony at the Marine base to mark Independence Day. An animal rights group is planning to post a billboard in the Greenville area that calls feeding meat to children abuse in light of recent news stories about a 555-pound South Carolina teenager. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals want to put up the billboard that features a picture of an overweight boy who is about to eat a hamburger with the tagline “Feeding kids meat is child abuse.”

Postal carrier confronts bank robber and get shot in the face for his efforts.

A bank robbery today on the Southeastside led to the shooting of a postal worker who tried to stop the suspected robber, Indianapolis police said. The robber was chased by police until he wrecked his getaway vehicle a short distance away. Both the robber and the shooting victim were sent to hospitals for treatment after the incident.

A marathon runner chased a man who tried to attack her in her garage, and authorities are saying he may be connected to a series of similar assaults. Thomas Parker, 39, of Tierrasanta, was arrested on suspicion of assault with intent to commit rape, robbery, burglary and false imprisonment, San Diego police said.

North Texas authorities said a pastor and his wife who were hit and killed by a train committed suicide together. Clay County Sheriff Kenny Lemons said witnesses on the train reported seeing the couple standing and embracing on the tracks in the path of the approaching train Tuesday night.

Police arrested a man and woman for trying to pass fake $100 bills at a strip club in Southeast Austin. Police said a bartender at The Landing Strip Gentlemen’s club on Bastrop Highway noticed the duo had at least two fake bills between the two of them, and they arrested Johnny Nocho Rodgers, 47, and Tammy Lynn Owens, 40.

A man shot and wounded an intruder at his apartment Wednesday in Sugar Land, police said. The shooting happened at the Fairmont Apartments in the 2300 block of Long Reach about 12:15 p.m. An apartment resident said he feared for his life when a strange man rushed him in is apartment, said Doug Adolph, Sugar Land Police Department spokesman.

The really rough looking wife of diminutive former child actor Gary Coleman arrested outside their Utah home.

The wife of former child star Gary Coleman was arrested Wednesday for allegedly trashing Coleman’s bedroom and saying he deserved it. Santaquin police said they were called to a “family problem” and found that Coleman had been locked out after a fight. When they arrived, officers tried to talk to Shannon Price in the couple’s driveway but she began cursing at officers and her husband, according to a police affidavit.

Stupid crooks. Women arrested after stealing $1,000 worth of disposable razors from Walgreens.

Two unidentified women are wanted by Franklin Police after walking away from two local Walgreen’s with more than $1,000 worth of disposable razor blades in a 30-minute time period. Both thefts occurred June 23; one at the Walgreen’s store located at 1415 Liberty Pike and one at 1509 Murfreesboro Road. The total loss is estimated to be in excess of $1,000.

Mike Sullivan just graduated from Desert Vista High School and he’s already a king. A “King Big Daddy,” to be precise. The Ahwatukee man won Big Daddy’s Smokehouse Sports Grill’s first burger eating contest, consuming four one-pound hamburgers and a pound of French fries in 43 minutes and 29 seconds. The Ahwatukee restaurant cosponsored the competition with LA Boxing of Ahwatukee to benefit Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

Atlanta parking garage collapse final tally–45 smashed vehicles.

The damage from the collapsed Midtown Atlanta parking garage is more extensive than initially suspected, resulting in more crumpled cars and a longer search, firefighters said Thursday. As of 1 p.m. Thursday, firefighters had removed all 45 of the damaged vehicles and the crumbled concrete from the hole inside the Centergy garage at Fifth and Spring street. Ninety percent of the search was complete, Atlanta Fire spokesman Bobby Stewart said.
