Muslim Propaganda Permeating Our Children's History Textbooks

For years the Saudis have been providing funding for many of the history textbooks being used as teaching tools throughout our country to deliberately deceive well intentioned but historically naive teachers and our children with all manner of Muslim propaganda.

For instance these books claim that Muslims discovered America, Jerusalem is an Arab city, Christianity was founded by a young Palestinian named Jesus and that the Quran was revealed to Mohammed from God.

Several recent studies have shown that American students are alarmingly ignorant about U.S. history and world events.

Experts have attributed the problem to everything from failing schools to substandard teachers.

But what about content?

Who Discovered America?

For instance, did you know that Muslims discovered America? Or that Jerusalem is an Arab city? That’s just some of the “history” that students in America’s K-12 classrooms have been taught in recent years–with the help of taxpayer money.

A new report by the non-profit Institute for Jewish and Community Research finds that American high school and elementary textbooks contain countless inaccuracies about Christianity, Judaism, Israel and the Middle East.

The Institute examined 28 of the most widely-used history, geography and social studies textbooks in America. It found at least 500 errors.

One book ignored the Jewish roots of Christianity, saying the faith was founded by a “young Palestinian” named Jesus.

Another stated as fact that the Koran was revealed to Mohammed from God.

Yet another said ancient Jewish civilization contributed “very little” to to the arts and sciences.

White Sox Ballgame More Important To Obama Than Murder Of Border Patrol Agent

US_Border_Patrol_Patch - Copy

Never one to miss an opportunity to take some credit for something he had nothing to do with or whine about how Republicans and many Democrats are holding up his massive redistribution of wealth in this country, Obama made sure to call White Sox pitcher Mark Buehrle right after he tossed a perfect game last Thursday against Tampa Bay.

President Barack Obama learned via e-mail about Mark Buehrle’s perfect game Thursday afternoon and called to congratulate the White Sox pitcher from his limousine en route to the Cleveland airport.

When the call came in, Buehrle cut his postgame news conference short and ducked into the office of Sox Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf.

Obama called the gem an “unbelievable achievement” and joked that maybe it happened because he wore his White Sox jacket while throwing out the first pitch at last week’s All-Star Game.

It makes sense that Obama would be a self described big time Sox fan after living all of those years on the south side of Chicago except a die hard White Sox fan would never make the goober of calling Comiskey Park…ummm Comi-n-skey Field now would they?

Another example of what happens when the TOTUS is taking a break I suppose or he’s just laying out a steaming pile of Bravo Sierra about being a fan of the White Sox but unlike George Stephanopoulos, Bob Costas, who would surely know Obama really screwed up, didn’t bother correcting him.

Another silly issue among many that the lamestream media ignores when it comes to their messiah? Hell yeah it is but those of us who aren’t so far up Obama’s ass we would break our necks when he makes a hard right into the Oval Office have grown beyond weary of the fawning slobbering left wing media making this guy out to be some kind of flawless god who is incapable of ever making a mistake.

Barack Obama is a racist. There, somebody said it.

Yes, I said it: Obama is a racist. As the white, conservative mother of black/Mexican/white children, I know a racist when I hear one. So is his buddy, Henry Louis Gates. Don’t let these two Ivy League-educated, erudite, distinguished black men convince you that only whites can be racists. Believe me, these two men are the worst kind of racists: black and elitist.

Crushing crowd shows up to see Sarah Palin as she winds down her stint as Alaska’s governor. No wonder she scares the crap out of the left wingers.

Thousands of people swarmed to Wasilla to wish Governor Palin well, just two days before she resigns. Palin made her final appearance as governor in her hometown, at the first of three governor’s picnics set for this weekend. However, this event was not an ordinary Governor’s Picnic. Not only was it a time for Palin’s home town to show support, but many from outside, including national media, made it a point to make it out to the picnic. “I was hoping somewhere, that I would have been able to possibly see her,” said Ronald Wise, who was visiting family from Washington. During the interview, Governor Palin walked behind him. Ronald yelled “Sarah!”

Boy life sure has been good to the couple who think America is just a big mean nasty racist country.

President Obama and his family are planning a vacation next month fit for the rich and famous on a spectacular Martha’s Vineyard waterfront farm. The Obamas plan to rent the stunning 29-acre Blue Heron Farm, a glamorous spread featuring spectacular views, a private beach, and even its own private golf tee, the Vineyard Gazette reported.

Wise words from someone who certainly knows how the game is played.

Republican Ralph Hall knows a lot about politics, having been first elected a county judge when Harry Truman was president. Now the 86-year-old is a member of Congress from east Texas, a job he’s held the past 29 years. Yesterday, he stood up at a conference of GOP House members to issue some words of warning about the health care bill they’re now debating.

News site looking to identify woman in video challenging Obama’s natural born citizen status. Why? So they can please Obama by trashing her?

We’re trying to identify the woman who questioned Rep. Mike Castle about Obama’s citizenship at a recent town hall meeting in Georgetown. If you know her and how we can reach her, please email Metro Editor Phil Freedman at pfreedman@delawareonline.com. The woman, wearing a red shirt, was captured on video at the June 30 town hall meeting on health care reform. Toting an American flag and her own U.S. birth certificate, she asked Castle why people are ignoring the president’s birth certificate. She said Obama is a citizen of Kenya, not the U.S.

Obama walks back on his stupid and uninformed words concerning Cambridge police, Harvard professor incident.

US President Barack Obama has told reporters he should not have described the arrest of a black Harvard professor as “stupid”. Mr Obama has faced criticism for wading into the controversy during a televised news conference on Wednesday. Professor Gates was apprehended at his own home after a witness saw him apparently trying to force his way in. He was held for disorderly conduct after allegedly accusing the arresting officer, Sgt James Crowley, of racism.

In a case that should make CIA personnel grin Blue Dog Democrats say House leaders have been lying to them all along, storm out of healthcare meeting.

House healthcare negotiations dissolved in acrimony on Friday, with Blue Dog Democrats saying they were “lied” to by their Democratic leaders. In advance of a subsequent press conference called by House leadership, Blue Dog liaison Rep. Dennis Cardoza (D-Calif.) said the healthcare bill should be staying in committee. “I expect the committee process to proceed,” Cardoza said.

So was it really Ed Rendell, the governor of Pennsylvania, who was pokin’ that hooker? If so will anybody be calling for his fat ass to resign?

Man, Ed Rendell is so screwed — literally. I don’t normally listen to Opie & Anthony looking for breaking news, but astonishingly that’s what I just got. A few minutes ago, the cast of the show on Sirius XM radio were interviewing Kristin Davis — not the one from Sex and the City, the former Manhattan Madam who spent four months in Rikers in connection with the Eliot Spitzer hooker scandal from last year.

What the old farts in America can look forward to if Obamacare comes on down the pike.

An 83-year-old woman from Östergötland in southern Sweden was forced to pay for back surgery out of her own pocket after doctors at her local public hospital told her she was too old for the treatment. “Without the operation, I might have lived another five years in incredible pain. But what kind of life is that?” Marianne Skogh told the Östgöta Correspondenten newspaper. Skogh has suffered from pain and numbness in her legs since 2004. After waiting for more than a year to see a specialist in the public health system, Skogh was finally told that the pain was likely to do problems in her back.

Oh thank goodness!! Maybe now they will all come on up and visit our country! Or start doing the jobs us Americans are too lazy to do.

The image of the United States in the minds of Mexican citizens has skyrocketed in the past year — rebounding to positive levels not seen since the American invasion of Iraq. According to the Pew Global Attitudes Project’s newly released survey on international attitudes toward the U.S., the favorable image of the United States has soared in Mexico from 47 percent to 69 percent since Barack Obama replaced George W. Governor Rick Perry showing some stones or blowing some of that famous south Texas hot air?

Gov. Rick Perry, raising the specter of a showdown with the Obama administration, suggested Thursday that he would consider invoking states’ rights protections under the 10th Amendment to resist the president’s healthcare plan, which he said would be “disastrous” for Texas. Interviewed by conservative talk show host Mark Davis of Dallas’ WBAP/820 AM, Perry said his first hope is that Congress will defeat the plan, which both Perry and Davis described as “Obama Care.” But should it pass, Perry predicted that Texas and a “number” of states might resist the federal health mandate. Senate Right To Carry State Reciprocity Amendment Misses Passage By Only Two Votes

concealed_carry - Copy

The John Thune (R-SD) David Vitter (R-LA) amendment to ensure reciprocity between states that recognize Right-To-Carry, which was attached to the National Defense Authorization Act, just missed the cut by a measly two votes in the U.S. Senate earlier this week.

To date thirty seven states have reciprocity agreements with at least one other state and several states honor all out-of-state concealed carry permits.

Two states, Illinois and Wisconsin and Washington DC forbid all manner of concealed carry. Alaska and that bastion of liberalism Vermont, have no requirements whatsoever to carry a concealed weapon as long as the person has the legal right to own a firearm. Wisconsin, Kansas, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Arizona and Nebraska all permit unlicensed open carry for those legally able to own a firearm, subject to county and municipal restrictions, but you may attract the attention of every cop within miles if you chose to exercise that right.

Several Senate Democrats spoke out against the Thune-Vitter amendment saying that the measure violated states rights by forcing some states with very stringent regulations (read making people jump through a series of ridiculous hoops in order to get one) for concealed carry permits to recognize CCW holders from states that issue permits based on somewhat more relaxed requirements but which must still meet the basic federal standards. Hey, wait a minute, since when did Democrats ever concern themselves with the Bill of Rights’ Tenth Amendment?

Thune’s amendment was very simple. If someone legally acquires a firearm under federal law and a concealed weapons permit under their state laws then they will be able to travel and carry to any other state that has a concealed carry provision. If a state does not allow its citizens to carry a concealed weapon then people traveling to this state from out of state would NOT be able to carry a concealed weapon.

The amendment was in no way going to change any state laws or force states without them to enact concealed carry legislation but that didn’t stop some hysterical anti gun Democrats from deliberately mischaracterizing the Thune amendment.

Democrats like Illinois Senator Dick (yes he is) Durban:

Mr. DURBIN.

Mr. President, I rise in opposition to the Thune amendment. The Senator from South Dakota tells us this is a very simple amendment. He tells us his amendment is consistent with self-defense and the reduction of crime. What the Senator from South Dakota cannot explain is why 400 mayors, the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Major Cities Police Chiefs Association, and the bipartisan association known as State Legislators Against Illegal Guns oppose this so-called very simple amendment.

Here is why they oppose it. The Thune amendment provides that if a State gives a person a permit to carry concealed weapons, then that person is free to carry concealed weapons in 47 other States and the District of Columbia. Those other States would be required to let this visitor carry a concealed loaded weapon in their State, even if their laws in that State would not currently allow that person to carry a gun.

Let’s be clear about the effect of this amendment. There are 36 States with laws governing who can carry concealed weapons, including which out-of-State permits that State will accept, if any. The States already have laws. Under the Thune amendment, those laws can be ignored. So if the Thune amendment becomes law, people who are currently prohibited from carrying concealed guns in those 36 States are free to do so.

It is absurd that we are considering this amendment today. We know nothing about the impact this amendment is actually going to have across America. How many Senators from the 36 States that already have laws governing concealed carry have had a chance to talk to their State law enforcement officials about this amendment and what it means?

Apparently, those who support this amendment want to move it very quickly. We scheduled a hearing–it is supposed to take place tomorrow–on this amendment before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime. But the Senator from South Dakota did not want to wait for a hearing before the committee. He has asked the Senate to take up this measure today before the hearing date.

Here are some of the reasons this amendment is so troubling. As my colleagues know, we have a federalist system–a government in Washington, a national government, and in each State and the District of Columbia State government and local control. States have adopted different standards in their State with regard to who the State will permit to carry concealed weapons. Each State has considered this issue and decided what is safe for their residents. Elected representatives, elected by the people, have made that decision State by State.

Some States have very rigorous standards. If you want to carry a concealed weapon, for example, a number of States will not allow you to if you are an abuser of alcohol, if you have been convicted of certain misdemeanor crimes or if you have not completed a training course to show you know how to use a gun.

The States have established that standard. If you want to go “packin’ ” in these States, you better not be a habitual drunkard; you better not be in a position where you have committed these misdemeanor crimes, and you have to prove by test and sometimes on the range that you can safely use this gun that you want to carry.

In Iowa, you cannot have a permit to carry a weapon if you are addicted to alcohol or if you have a history of repeated acts of violence.

In Pennsylvania, individuals convicted of certain misdemeanor crimes, such as impersonating a police officer, cannot have a concealed carry permit.

In South Carolina, any person who is a member of a subversive organization or a habitual drunkard cannot carry a handgun.

In California, you cannot carry a firearm for 10 years after being convicted of misdemeanors, including assault, battery, stalking, threatening a judge, victim, or witness.

Other States, in contrast, have minimal or no concealed carry standards beyond the baseline of the Federal law which applies to all States.

For example, a number of States, including Georgia, do not require any firearms training for a concealed carry permit. In 2008, a spokesman for the Georgia Bureau of Investigation told a newspaper: “A blind person can get a permit in Georgia since all you have to do is pass a background check.”

Two States–Alaska and Vermont–do not even require a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Those States let anyone carry a concealed weapon.

Under the Thune amendment, people from those States–with virtually no standards for concealed carry or no requirement to prove they know how to use a gun–those people could visit States where they have established standards for the safety of their residents and under the Thune amendment legally carry a gun.

In other words, the visitors can ignore the law of the State–a law the elected representatives of the people in that State have enacted. Some States do little oversight on the concealed carry permits they have issued.

In the year 2007, the South Florida Sun Sentinel newspaper found that 1,400 people in Florida had active concealed carry licenses even though they had received sentences–criminal sentences–for major crimes, including assault, sexual battery, child abuse, and manslaughter.

So even in the States where they have established standards for concealed carry, many of them are not keeping an eye on them. There is no oversight.

As a consequence, people may be legally carrying in one State which has lax standards in obtaining the permit and no review–virtually no review when it comes to the people who end up with the permits–and that person can travel to another State which has established standards for the safety of their own citizens and under the Thune amendment legally carry a gun.

If the Thune amendment is enacted, States with carefully crafted concealed carry laws must allow concealed carry by out-of-State visitors who may not meet their own State’s standards, who may even have sexual battery, child abuse, or manslaughter convictions.

Is that going to make us safer? Do we want in my State–well, Illinois would be an exception because we do not have a concealed carry law. We are one of two States that do not. But for the other 48 States, do we want people traveling across the border who do not meet the basic requirements of knowing how to use a firearm, who do not meet the basic requirements in terms of their own criminal background? Is it so important that everybody carry a gun everywhere or do we want to respect States rights–States rights to determine what is safe in their own State? Why would we want to override some States’ standards to allow questionable concealed carry permit holders from States with lower standards or virtually no standards?

It is not necessary for us to adopt this amendment to give individual States the ability to recognize each other’s concealed carry permits. The Senator from South Dakota has said his State welcomes all people who have concealed carry permits. But that was their decision. They made that decision in their State. States are free to form concealed carry reciprocity agreements with other States.

Twelve States have already decided to honor conceal and carry permits issued by every other State, obviously including South Dakota. However, 25 other States look carefully at each of the other States and make this decision selectively. They have decided that some States have acceptable standards and some do not.

Eleven States and the District of Columbia have chosen not to grant concealed carry reciprocity to any other State. They want their own laws to govern the protection of their own people.

The Thune amendment is a direct assault on those States that have chosen not to allow reciprocity. They are California, Connecticut, Hawaii, Iowa, Maryland, Massachusetts, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, and Rhode Island. Over all, the Thune amendment would override the selective reciprocity or no reciprocity laws of each of the 36 States I have mentioned.

There are good reasons a State might want to be careful with who they allow to carry concealed weapons within their borders. Let me give some examples of what has happened with concealed carry.

Washington State resident Clinton Granger obtained a concealed carry permit despite his history of drug addiction and schizophrenia. In May of 2008, Granger was in a fight at a public festival, fired a shot that hit one person in the face, the second person in the wrist, and then lodged in a third person’s leg.

Cincinnati resident Geraldine Beasley obtained an Ohio concealed carry permit, even though she had been previously fined for unlawful transportation of a firearm. In August 2007 she shot and killed a panhandler who asked her for 25 cents at a gas station.

In Moscow, ID, resident and Aryan Nation member Jason Kenneth Hamilton was given a concealed carry permit even though he had a domestic violence conviction. In May 2007, Hamilton went on a shooting spree, killing his wife, a police officer, and a church sexton, and wounding three others.

According to the Violence Policy Center, from May 2007 to April 2009, at least seven law enforcement officers were shot and killed by concealed carry permit holders–these are law enforcement officers–and concealed carry holders were charged in the shooting deaths of at least 43 private citizens during that time.

In light of incidents such as these, it is perfectly reasonable for States to decide what the standards will be for concealed carry. The Thune amendment would override this authority of the States and basically say that visitors from States with a concealed carry law don’t have to meet the State’s standards where they are visiting.

The Thune amendment is troubling because it leaves law enforcement agencies in the dark about the concealed carry population in their own area. In many States, law enforcement plays a key gatekeeper role, an oversight role on the concealed carry population. Under the Thune amendment, that is impossible. The first person who drives in out of State under the Thune amendment may carry a gun and the law enforcement officials wouldn’t even have knowledge of it.

When you look at the Thune amendment, along with the amendment offered earlier this year by Senator Ensign that repeals the DC government’s local gun laws, we see a disturbing trend. We see Members from that side of the aisle leading an organized effort to strip State and local governments of their ability to keep their own communities safe. There is no justification for this. The Supreme Court’s decision in Heller made it clear that although the second amendment right is to be respected in terms of the rights of individuals, there was still authority to deal with this issue of concealed carry.

Justice Scalia in the Heller opinion specifically discussed the lawfulness of prohibitions on carrying concealed weapons. Congress should not require one State’s laws to trump another’s. New York should not have to let visitors on its city streets be governed by the laws of Alaska when it comes to carrying guns, and it should be up to the State to decide who it will permit to carry concealed weapons within their borders.

This is not a good amendment. America won’t be safer if the Thune amendment passes. It has not gone through a hearing in the Senate. The Senator decided to call it up the day before that hearing was set. It guts State laws in 36 States. It will leave law enforcement with no knowledge of who is carrying concealed weapons in their State. It puts guns in the hands of dangerous people who could easily misuse them.

This amendment is opposed by law enforcement organizations, mayors, and State elected officials. I have received letters in opposition to what Senator Thune calls a very simple amendment from the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the Major Cities Police Chief Association, the U.S. Conference of Mayors, a coalition of 400 mayors called Mayors Against Illegal Guns, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley, a group of State attorneys general, including my own Lisa Madigan, the bipartisan Association of State Legislators Against Illegal Guns, and many others.

The amendment has been criticized in many newspapers, including USA Today, the Miami Herald, the Philadelphia Enquirer, the New York Times, the Washington Post, and Baltimore Sun.

This amendment should be defeated. I urge my colleagues to reject it.

I certainly hope everybody takes note of how adamant this ultra liberal Democrat is about states rights in his little diatribe. It may come in handy very soon.

Mark Levin Analyzes Obama's Lame Healthcare Press Conference Yawner

Nope, I haven’t watched a single one of those Barack Obama dog and pony shows (aka–press conferences) because the guy can’t articulate a truthful cogent thought independent of those stupid teleprompters that follow him around everywhere to save his ass. It’s just about more than I can take to force myself to read what the guy has to say knowing he is lying through his teeth a good 90% of the time.

Thank goodness we have people like Mark Levin who are willing to jab pencils into their eyes and ears while watching and listening to the man, then tell us all about it.

Obama accuses doctors of putting earnings ahead of what’s best for patients in our current health care system.

In trying to rally support for health care overhaul, Obama described a patient who sees a physician for a sore throat, or a parent who brings in a child with a sore throat. “Right now, doctors a lot of times are forced to make decisions based on the fee payment schedule that’s out there. … The doctor may look at the reimbursement system and say to himself, ‘You know what? I make a lot more money if I take this kid’s tonsils out,'” Obama told a prime-time news conference.

Democrats refuse to allow Republicans to send out health care reform mailings to constituents.

Democrats are preventing Republican House Members from sending their constituents a mailing that is critical of the majority’s health care reform plan, blocking the mailing by alleging that it is inaccurate. House Republicans are crying foul and claiming that the Democrats are using their majority to prevent GOP Members from communicating with their constituents. The dispute centers on a chart created by Rep. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) and Republican staff of the Joint Economic Committee to illustrate the organization of the Democratic health care plan.

Those wacky North Koreans take some potshots at our miserable excuse for a Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

North Korea launched a scathing personal attack on U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Thursday after she likened the leadership in Pyongyang to “small children and unruly teenagers and people who are demanding attention.” (SNIP) The spokesman called Clinton “by no means intelligent” and a “funny lady.” “Sometimes she looks like a primary schoolgirl and sometimes a pensioner going shopping,” the statement said.

Big corruption bust in New Jersey grabs up some mayors, state politicians and rabbis. Since no political affiliation is mentioned in the story it’s almost a lock we are talking Democrats here.

Two northern New Jersey mayors, several rabbis and other politicians were arrested on Thursday in a federal investigation into public corruption and international money laundering, U.S. authorities said. Among the approximately 30 people arrested were Hoboken Mayor Peter Cammarano, who took office 23 days ago, Secaucus Mayor Dennis Elwell, state Assemblyman Daniel Van Pelt and Jersey City Deputy Mayor Leona Beldini, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Newark.

Ladies and gentlemen there is hope for Joe Biden but it looks like it’s still 10 years away. I wonder if he can hold out that long?

A detailed, functional artificial human brain can be built within the next 10 years, a leading scientist has claimed. Henry Markram, director of the Blue Brain Project, has already simulated elements of a rat brain. He told the TED Global conference in Oxford that a synthetic human brain would be of particular use finding treatments for mental illnesses. Around two billion people are thought to suffer some kind of brain impairment, he said. “It is not impossible to build a human brain and we can do it in 10 years,” he said.

The sky is blue, grass is green, concrete is hard, water is wet and a bunch of people got shot at an event in Texas ‘honoring’ a rapper.

Six people were shot Wednesday night, none fatally, on the Texas Southern University campus during an event recognizing a Houston area rapper, school and police officials said. University spokeswoman Eva Pickens said university officials were told that the shootings, which occurred at about 8:30 p.m. at Cleburne and Tierwester, near the East Garage, were gang-related. At least one of the people shot attended TSU, she said, adding that none of the injuries were life-threatening.

Obama Says Cambridge Police "Acted Stupidly" In Arresting Harvard University Professor

gates_arrested - Copy

During Barack Obama’s Wednesday evening press conference that was supposed to be yet another one of his lame attempts to push his government takeover of our healthcare system into the faces of Americans, who are overwhelmingly not interested in the plan since they are happy with theirs, he was asked a final and completely off topic but certainly pre-arranged question about the arrest of his good friend Harvard University professor Henry Louis Gates.

While there are naturally a few disputes between the police and Gates about exactly what happened the basics are these according to various news accounts I have read over the last several days.

On Thursday July 16 Gates had returned to the Harvard University owned residence he had recently moved into, a residence that showed signs of a previous break-in attempt about a month or so earlier, after a trip to China and was having difficulty opening the front door even with the assistance of the man who had driven him to the apartment.

A neighbor, Harvard magazine fund-raiser Lucia Whalen, noticed the men attempting to gain entry into the home at about 12:45 in the afternoon and thought something was amiss so she called police telling them that someone was breaking in through the front door of a nearby residence.

In the meantime Gates had gone around to the rear of the house and gained access through the back door. He then turned off the alarm system, exited the back door and made his way back around to the front. He and the driver eventually managed to get the front door open and Gates then entered the residence and the driver left.

About that time Sergeant James Crowley of the Cambridge Police Department arrived to investigate the report of a possible break in and approached the front door of the home where he encountered Gates inside.

Soon one Hispanic and one black officer showed up on the scene to assist Crowley who was asking Gates for identification which he refused to provide telling the officer, “No I will not!” Gates then began to call Crowley a “racist cop” for asking a black man for ID when he is simply standing inside his own home warning him, “you don’t know who you are messing with!”. Crowley explained the reason he was there was to investigate a report of a possible break-in to which Gates responded, “Why, because I’m a black man?”

Wednesday July 22nd

Democrats and Independents beginning to agree with Conservatives, acknowledge country is headed in the wrong direction.

That was fast. The hope and optimism that washed over the country in the opening months of Barack Obama’s presidency are giving way to harsh realities. An Associated Press-GfK Poll shows that a majority of Americans are back to thinking that the country is headed in the wrong direction after a fleeting period in which more thought it was on the right track. (SNIP) Perhaps most troubling for Obama may be where he is losing ground. His approval rating was down 9 points among Americans overall but 20 percent among independents. Similarly, the increase in those who think the country is headed in the wrong direction came mostly from independents and Democrats.

Director of Congressional Budget Office making Congressional Democrats and Obama squirm with a large dose of reality.

Douglas Elmendorf is hardly a household name. He’s just a smart, honest, non-partisan public servant currently telling unpleasant truths that could save the nation if enough people listen and take his message to heart. Truth number one coming from this director of the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) is that the “federal budget is on an unsustainable path “ – debt is going to grow faster than the economy and the only answer is to cut spending, to do it dramatically, and to focus on the areas causing most of the problem: Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. Deficits won’t rescue us. Tax increases won’t rescue us. The two in combination won’t do the trick, and here comes truth number two: The foremost proposals so far trotted out by the Democrats to reform health care delivery will not decrease costs, thereby lessening our peril. They will increase costs, worsening it.

Obama calls for private meeting with the Director of the Congressional Budget Office after the man throws major monkey wrench into Democrat spending plans. Look for some Chicago style arm twisting behind the scenes.

Republicans on Wednesday criticized as inappropriate a meeting President Obama held Monday with the director of the Congressional Budget Office, Douglas Elmendorf. Elmendorf, a Democratic appointee, has been a thorn in the side of President Obama and congressional Democrats for the way he has analyzed health care reform legislation. In their view, Elmendorf hasn’t sufficiently given their health care reform proposals enough credit for cutting costs – which has caused them political problems in getting the legislation passed. Last week, frustrated at one analysis by Elmendorf, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., snapped, “what he should do is maybe run for Congress.”

With Obama’s Muslim background all I can say is good luck with this one Israel.

A group of Israeli rabbis, headed by Chief Rabbi Shlomo Amar, have sent a letter to U.S. rabbis and the President’s Conference, urging them to exert political leverage in Israel’s favor, Israel Radio reported on Wednesday. “The American government pressures Israel to prevent Jews from building houses in extensive areas in the Land of Israel, which is very unfortunate,” the rabbis wrote. “We ask you to make use of your political power to lobby the American authorities to reconsider this policy in the spirit of truly democratic justice, and give weight to halakhic considerations that are binding for the Jews.”

Maybe everyone in the White House and Congress can lead the way on this one.

The government called Wednesday for several thousand volunteers to start rolling up their sleeves for the first swine flu shots, in a race to test whether a new vaccine really will protect against this novel virus before its expected rebound in the fall. Eight medical centers around the country are enrolling for a series of studies directed by the National Institutes of Health, and the first shots should go into volunteers’ arms by the second week of August.

Michigan Democrats hell bent on driving the last few nails into the state’s coffin.

The Michigan Democratic Party is considering asking voters to raise the state’s minimum wage to $10 an hour. The minimum wage currently is $7.40 an hour. The potential 2010 ballot initiative was among a few discussed Wednesday by party chairman Mark Brewer.

Barack Hussein Obama Getting Absolutely Hammered In AOL Poll

AOL decided to jump into the “Obama’s poll numbers are falling off a cliff” bandwagon with a small article the site posted up yesterday. (July 20) — Is the honeymoon over? Six months into his presidency, a new Washington Post/ABC News poll shows approval ratings for President Barack Obama’s handling of health care, the economy and the budget deficit sliding.
