Friday July 31st

Happy Birthday to my beautiful wonderful 23 year old daughter! I hope you have a terrific day today my “little Bucket” 🙂

Democrat Senator Chris Dodd announced today he has prostate cancer. We’re left wondering if he will be treated in Canada or England since, according to his fellow left wingers, our healthcare system is so jacked up.

U.S. Senator Christopher Dodd has been diagnosed with early-stage prostate cancer. Dodd is scheduled to undergo surgery during the Senate’s August recess and said he expects to be back at work after a “brief recuperation” at home.

New York to use taxpayer funds to pay women for their donated eggs to be used for stem cell research. Keep in mind the state just pushed through some massive tax hikes on their citizens because officials said the state was flat broke.

Hanqi Miao said she wanted to donate her eggs to help infertile couples reproduce, but she acknowledged the money is good, too: She said she’ll be paid about $5,000. “Who doesn’t want money in your hand?” said the 21-year-old woman, who will have to undergo hormone treatments that could abnormally swell her ovaries to the size of small grapefruits and cause discomfort.

Walter Williams opines on Congress and the Obama administration’s hijacking of our Constitution.

How can political commentators, politicians and academics get away with statements like “Reagan budget deficits,” “Clinton budget surplus,” “Bush budget deficits” or “Obama’s tax increases”? The only answer is that they, or the people who believe such statements, are ignorant, conniving or just plain stupid. Article I, Section 7 of the U.S. Constitution reads: “All bills for raising revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with amendments as on other Bills.” A president has no power to raise or lower taxes.

The birth certificate controversy? It’s 100% Obama’s fault. Oh, and his father’s for not being a U.S. citizen.

t’s good practice to take a person at his word until someone shows you proof he is lying. Barack Obama says he was born in Hawaii, and since no one has shown any proof he was born in Kenya or elsewhere, it’s OK to conclude he was born in Hawaii.

Time magazine may as well be Obama magazine as O shows up on the cover for the seventh time since the election. This time dressed up as a doctor. Pathetic.

Time magazine’s August 10 edition with President Barack Obama on the cover (“Paging Dr. Obama”) trying to heal the nation in a photo illustration as a physician, wearing a white smock with a stethoscope around his neck, brings to seven the number of issues the magazine’s cover has featured Obama just since November’s election — make that eight for the First Family if you add in June 1’s genuflecting “The Meaning of Michelle.” Amongst the seven of President Obama: “Person of the Year” and Obama as FDR.

Make non-taxpaying voters pay for vote-buying programs. Works for me.

The United States needs a new income-tax amendment to the Constitution in order to impose fiscal discipline on the Congress and the president. The amendment would impose a proportional tax on all taxpayers to finance all future government programs.

Car Allowance Rebate System Off Again On Again

Cash_For_Clunkers - Copy

The Obama administration has no idea what to do with this cash for clunkers taxpayer money give away program. They announced a halt to this thing yesterday then come out today and tell us nope, she’s back up and running.

The Car Allowance Rebate System (CARS) or cash for clunkers program provided a total of one billion dollars to be distributed to car dealerships who managed to figure out the complicated 135 page mess that was handed down by the Democrats in Washington DC and get customers into new cars that get 22 mpg (light trucks 18 mpg) after trading in their old vehicle that was “only” getting 18 mpg or less.

Here’s the problem.

1,000,000,000 dollars divided by 16,000 participating U.S. auto dealers = $62,500 per dealer. At an average of $4,000 ($3,500 minimum-$4,500 maximum) per government clunker rebate that means each dealer can sell all of about 16 vehicles under the CARS program then the gig is up. Sixteen vehicles per dealership, big whoop.

For some reason I have this feeling that many dealers have already exceeded their limit, by a bunch, with the expectation they will be reimbursed by the government for each qualifying transaction. Maybe they will maybe they won’t but many dealers have taken to having customers sign forms agreeing to return their shiny new high mileage Cozy Coupes in the event Uncle Sam can’t or won’t cough up the cash somewhere down the road. Of course the customer’s previously owned clunker is now a pile of scrap at Uncle Bennie’s Tow Yard and Auto Salvage.

Keep in mind that these dealers are not allowed to resell any of the vehicles they take in on this clunkers program. These trade in vehicles must have their engines permanently disabled and they then must be sent to the scrap yard for shredding within 48 hours after the dealer accepts the clunker via the sale of a new car under the CARS program. How’s that for an environmental benefit to our beautiful and pristine planet?

Q. Where can we buy the sodium silicate necessary to disable the engine block?

A. Sodium silicate is readily available from chemical or automotive supply distributors. Many ATAEs have also arranged for supplies for their member dealers. Clunkers should be disabled prior to applying for reimbursement.

So how in the world are these dealers supposed to protect themselves from consummating deals on qualifying vehicles without taking it up the keister if the fund runs out of cash? Well there is a little gizmo widget on a government website that they are able to log into and see how quickly the taxpayer money is being pissed away so ostensibly they won’t get stuck selling cars under the program after the cash dries up. Yeah, so some nitwit drops the ball and the website doesn’t get updated or locks up under the load and goes blue screen…oh well sucks to be a dealer who is out thousands of dollars when they find out they won’t be getting reimbursed because there isn’t any more money in the fund. Maybe they can call their Congressman.

Q. As funds run down, how can dealers protect themselves from losing $3,500-$4,500?

A. NHTSA has posted a fund balance ticker on the dealers-only Web site (listed in the box above) showing how much money has been allocated to deals submitted for approval. The law states that the program will end by November 1, 2009, or when $1 billion appropriated for this program is spent. It is clear the money will run out well before the statutory expiration date. Accordingly, NADA is working with NHTSA on a fair and orderly program wind down designed to ensure dealers are reimbursed for all valid deals.

Dan Rather Begs For Obama To Save The Mainstream News Media

dan_rather - Copy

Former CBS Evening News anchor Dan Rather has spoken out and pleaded with Barack Obama to do something soon to bail out the “news media” before she goes tango uniform and “democracy” as we know it in this country is lost forever. What a laugh huh?

Yes this would be the same Dan Rather who in 2004 tried to use forged documents regarding George W. Bush’s service in the Texas Air National Guard in a blatant, biased and partisan attempt as a so called journalist to derail Bush’s bid for a second presidential term.

The “Rathergate” affair involved Dan Rather narrating a pre-election September 8 CBS “60 Minutes” story, based on forged documents, charging that President Bush not only used connections to join the Texas Air National Guard to avoid service in the Vietnam War, but didn’t fulfill the terms of his Guard service. When questions surfaced about the authenticity of the documents, CBS stonewalled, covered-up, and eventually apologized. An “Independent Review Panel” was formed to investigate. Former Attorney General Dick Thornburgh and former Associated Press president Louis Boccardi were in charge of the probe. Now, three months later, the findings have been issued and four mid-level employees have been fired. They are Senior Vice President Betsy West, “60 Minutes Wednesday” Executive Producer Josh Howard, Senior Broadcast Producer Mary Murphy, and producer [Mary] Mapes.

The report reveals on page 130 that Mapes, one of those fired because of the scandal, had documented information in her possession before the controversial September 8 broadcast that George W. Bush, while in the Texas Air National Guard, “did volunteer for service in Vietnam but was turned down in favor of more experienced pilots.” This information is critical because Dan Rather, in the broadcast, insinuated that Bush was among the “many well-connected young men [who tried to] pull strings and avoid service in Vietnam.” AIM Editor Cliff Kincaid explained the significance of the panel’s revelation: “Mapes, who was very close to Rather and enjoyed his confidence, had the evidence exonerating Bush of this malicious charge.

The report shows that there were multiple credible sources to prove that Bush did not try to avoid Vietnam by going into the National Guard and that he was in fact willing to go to Vietnam as a pilot. However, CBS News deliberately kept this information from its viewers and conveyed an opposite impression because Rather, Mapes & Company were trying to depict Bush as a coward who, as Commander-in-Chief, was sending American soldiers to their deaths in Iraq.” The report reveals that Rather assured CBS News President Andrew Heyward that he, Rather, had not “been involved in this much checking on a story since Watergate,” and that it was “very big.” The report says that Rather assured Heyward that the story was “thoroughly vetted” or documented and verified. Kincaid explained, “Rather saw this as a Watergate-style story that could damage the Bush campaign and sink the President’s chances for re-election, as Americans were fighting and dying in Iraq. He seemed to be making a virtual guarantee that the story would be a smoking gun that would usher John Kerry into the White House.

Obama’s science and technology “czar” advocates allowing trees to sue for violations to their legal rights. You cannot make this stuff up if you tried.

Since the 1970s, some radical environmentalists have argued that trees have legal rights and should be allowed to go to court to protect those rights. The idea has been endorsed by John P. Holdren, the man who now advises President Barack Obama on science and technology issues.

Google computer engineer in serious condition after taking 100 lb tree branch to the head while walking through New York’s Central Park.

A Google genius was in a coma Wednesday night after a rotting branch snapped off a tree in Central Park and smashed him in the head. Sasha Blair-Goldensohn was walking to work through the park when a 100-pound limb came crashing from a massive pin oak tree near W. 63rd St.

She’s an old lady and she doesn’t care what people think about her selling her TVs because she is sick of seeing Obama’s ugly mug on the damn things every five minutes.

A 78-year-old Carroll woman says she’s so tired of seeing President Barack Obama on the airwaves that she’s selling her television sets – two of them. Deloris Nissen, a retired nurses’ aide and former Kmart employee who was raised on a farm near Audubon, placed a classified advertisement with The Daily Times Herald for Friday’s paper. In the $5.50 ad, Nissen tells readers she has two television sets for sale. The reason: “Obama on every channel and station.”

Bad news for Houston as Royal Dutch Shell plans on reducing capital investment and cutting jobs as profits drop substantially.

Royal Dutch Shell Plc plans to reduce capital spending by about 10 percent next year and make further “substantial” job cuts, saying the economy won’t recover any time soon. The budget to buy and maintain assets will drop to about $28 billion in 2010 from as much as $32 billion this year, The Hague-based Shell, whose North American operations are based in Houston, said today in a statement after posting a 67 drop in quarterly earnings.

More happy news for the oil company haters.

Exxon Mobil reported a steeper-than-expected second quarter profit drop this morning, falling 66 percent to $3.9 billion, or 81 cents per share, largely on lower commodity prices and slower demand. “This is an unusually bad miss,” Credit Suisse analysts said in a report this morning, particularly given the drop in the important international exploration business, where profits fell by $4.979 million to $2,999 million.

Military Readying Plans To Deploy Troops Throughout U.S. When H1N1 Flu Takes Off This Fall

flu_shot - Copy

The Department of Defense is putting plans in place to deploy military personnel throughout the country when not if the H1N1 (swine) flu takes off like a bat outta hell come the cooler weather of fall.

Understand that the plain ol’ regular flu that sweeps through the U.S. every winter takes the lives of some 35,000 people in this country yet we have never had the military roaming around in anticipation of having to assist civilian law enforcement and other authorities because of it. I wonder what is so special about this flu bug that the Obama administration feels the need to take this action? For the record, as of July 23 there have been a total of 302 deaths this year in the U.S. attributable to the H1N1 virus, a little less than the number of people who die in car wrecks in this country every three days.

The U.S. military wants to establish regional teams of military personnel to assist civilian authorities in the event of a significant outbreak of the H1N1 virus this fall, according to Defense Department officials.

The proposal is awaiting final approval from Defense Secretary Robert Gates.

The officials would not be identified because the proposal from U.S. Northern Command’s Gen. Victor Renuart has not been approved by the secretary.

The plan calls for military task forces to work in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Agency. There is no final decision on how the military effort would be manned, but one source said it would likely include personnel from all branches of the military.

Normally respiratory viruses such as flu do not circulate well at all during the hot summer months but this has been a remarkably cool summer for the most part around much of the U.S. such as in Chicago, Minnesota, Alaska, Tennessee, Iowa and many other states these last couple of months!

Ironic how this particular flu virus strikes during a summer that just so happens to be sporting some of the coolest temperatures in decades. Weird, almost like it was planned that way huh? I mean Al Gore has been running around like a rooster with it’s willy cut off for the last several years trying to convince the idiots among us that global warming means the end of the planet as we know it and yet here we have people all over America wearing long pants and sweaters in July.

Arlen Specter Says Ethnic Pride And Women Politicians Rock

Follow along for just about a minute as that bumbling fool of a Democrat Senator from Pennsylvania, Arlen Specter, displays some seriously lame pandering to the pasty faced judicial activist Sonia Sotomayor, the judge who’s record sports a very unimpressive five out of seven cases she ruled on that eventually made it to the U.S. Supreme Court getting overturned.

“If a woman didn’t stand up for women I wouldn’t think much of her.”

I reckon he is pretty tore up over the so called womens’ rights groups who have stood by silently without saying a word while Sarah Palin and her family get shredded on a daily basis.

“…and when she refers to being a Latino [it’s Latina stupid…ed] that’s a little ethnic pride. I think that’s a pretty healthy thing. To have a little ethnic pride.”

Riddle of the day. What is a Caucasian called who has a little ethnic pride?

Why, a racist of course.

If you own an iPhone ya better read this.

If you receive a text message on your iPhone any time after Thursday afternoon containing only a single square character, Charlie Miller would suggest you turn the device off. Quickly. That small cipher will likely be your only warning that someone has taken advantage of a bug that Miller and his fellow cybersecurity researcher Collin Mulliner plan to publicize Thursday at the Black Hat cybersecurity conference in Las Vegas. Using a flaw they’ve found in the iPhone’s handling of text messages, the researchers say they’ll demonstrate how to send a series of mostly invisible SMS bursts that can give a hacker complete power over any of the smart phone’s functions.

Arizona legislators considering selling the House and Senate buildings to the Chinese then lease them back because they need the money badly. OK kidding about the Chinese part….I think.

Call it a sign of desperate times: Legislators are considering selling the House and Senate buildings where they’ve conducted state business for more than 50 years. Dozens of other state properties also may be sold as the state government faces its worst financial crisis in a generation, if not ever. The plan isn’t to liquidate state assets, though. Instead, officials hope to sell the properties and then lease them back over several years before assuming ownership again. The complex financial transaction would allow government services to continue without interruption while giving the state a fast infusion of as much as $735 million, according to Capitol projections.

Uber liberal NYC mayor and multi billionaire Michael Bloomberg not very tolerant with homeless folks. Where’s the outrage from the leftists?

New York City is buying one-way plane tickets for homeless families to leave the city, and dozens of the families have landed in Georgia and South Carolina. It’s part of a Bloomberg administration program to keep the homeless out of the expensive shelter system, which costs $36,000 a year per family. More than 550 families have left the city since 2007. All it takes is for a relative to agree to take them in.

Just to make you feel safer when visiting, keep in mind gun ownership in Chicago is strictly forbidden. The Democrat politicians running the city just want to make sure their citizens are protected.

At least 15 people were shot and wounded in Chicago overnight, seven of them in a single incident on the city’s West Side. In that incident, police were called to the scene of a shooting at Walnut Street and Homan Boulevard at 10:43 p.m. Seven people were shot, according to Fire Media Affairs Dir. Larry Langford, who said six people were initially hospitalized in critical condition and one person, an adult man, was taken in stable condition after suffering a graze wound. One person was found shot inside a grocery store and the six others were found within a half-block radius of the store, Langford said.

The left wing Politico is getting seriously nervous about the Democrats getting their asses kicked in 2010.

Democrats giddy with possibilities only six months ago now confront a perilous 2010 landscape signaled by troublesome signs of President Barack Obama’s political mortality, the plunging popularity of many governors and rising disquiet among many vulnerable House Democrats. The issue advantage has shifted as well, with Democrats facing the brunt of criticism about the pace of stimulus package spending, anxiety over rising unemployment rates and widespread uneasiness over the twin pillars of Obama’s legislative agenda: his cap-and-trade approach to climate change and the emerging health care bill.

Young lady loses job over criticisms aimed at Henry Gates, Barack Obama. Kinda sucks since asshat lefties can pretty much say whatever they want without fear of reprisal.

An aide to Manhattan Borough President Scott Stringer has resigned under pressure after she labeled Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. a “racist” and dubbed President Obama “O-dumb-a” in a Facebook rant defending racial profiling. “I get it — white men have dominated for hundreds of years and there’s a lot of anger there. But HOW MUCH MORE can the white people do to correct past injustices of their ancestors?”

Obama's Natural Born Citizen Problem Is Not Going To Go Away Anytime Soon

obama_smokin_dope - Copy

Say, have you noticed how all of a sudden EVERY media outlet in the country has finally decided to chime in over this Obama birth certificate/citizenship issue? This topic is everywhere these days but oddly these same media clowns whispered nary a peep about this subject a year ago or so. Shucks, I wonder why they weren’t doing their jobs back then but now feel it’s safe to finally start yapping about it?

Naturally anyone who wonders out loud about such silly little issues as Article II Section 1 of our Constitution, which reads in part:

No person except a natural born citizen, or a citizen of the United States, at the time of the adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the office of President; neither shall any person be eligible to that office who shall not have attained to the age of thirty five years, and been fourteen Years a resident within the United States.

…are called nutjobs, wackos, racists, cranks, wingnuts, crazies and on and on by the leftists and a few Republican pundits who wish to be seen as “better informed” and above the petty politics of wondering where someone who holds the highest office in the land was born. Of course many of these types of “Republicans” also want to be invited back to all the different cable news shows so they can continue pushing their latest books. Good ol’ capitalism doncha know.

In fairness I guess it’s the same kind of names we call the “earthers” who’s latest religious cause cĂ©lèbre swears man (well mostly the United States according to Hillary) is causing a climatic catastrophe which will bring an end to the world as we know it by the end of the year if Congress doesn’t ram through this absolutely bogus cap and trade rip off.

Virtually everyone in the state run media and the Obama administration have been deliberately trying to confuse the situation by saying Obama is a “U.S.” citizen, or like he said on his fightthesmears.com site, a “native born” citizen but they never make the mistake of uttering the words natural born citizenEVER! How come nobody ever asks them why?

If all it took to hold the office of president or vice president was to be a ‘citizen’ or ‘native’ born citizen (born on U.S. soil) then why do you suppose the Founding Fathers specifically wrote in the Constitution the phase “natural born citizen?” Maybe because the term goes beyond ‘citizen’ and ‘native born citizen’ after all in Article I of the Constitution the requirements to be a member of Congress specifically says that anyone who is merely a plain ol’ ‘citizen’ of this country can run for office as long as they otherwise qualify.

No Person shall be a Representative who shall not have attained to the age of twenty five Years, and been seven Years a Citizen of the United States, and who shall not, when elected, be an Inhabitant of that State in which he shall be chosen.

Think about it, if it wasn’t for the ‘natural born’ requirement to be president/vice president an illegal alien from any other country can cross our borders, give birth to a child in the United States and this child now becomes a ‘native born’ citizen according to our Fourteenth Amendment and would be eligible to run for president some day. Certainly, after fighting a long and brutal war for independence the Founders were in no mood to allow a foreigner or anybody else with possible allegiance to another country to gain access to the office of the presidency hence the natural born or child of American citizens, as in both parents are U.S. citizens, clause.

(Wondering what the difference is with this natural born citizen stuff, in greater detail? If so, you may want to read this.)

Lately Obama’s press secretary, Mr. Family Guy, (Robert Gibbs) has been pretending exasperation with the issue,

“I hate to indulge, in such an august setting as the White House briefing room…the made-up, fictional nonsense whether the president was born in this country. If I had some DNA, it wouldn’t assuage those who believe he wasn’t born here. The president was born in Honolulu, in the 50th state of the greatest country on the face of the earth…There are 10,000 more important issues for people in this country to discuss, than whether or not the president is a citizen when it’s been proven ad nauseam.

Now it is true there are millions in the U.S., Europe and Africa that are absolutely convinced Obama was born in his ancestral homeland of Kenya and that very well could be but who knows because the Kenyan authorities have put any and all records concerning Obama under lock and key, the same thing that has happened in this country. Gee, ya wonder why people smell a rat huh? Keep in mind that rat smell started with DEMOCRATS, specifically Hillary supporters who knew their gal was getting the short end of the stick during the primaries but couldn’t quite wrap their hands around what was going on.

Henry Louis Gates Jr. Distant Relative Of Cambridge Cop Who Arrested Him

It turns out the “esteemed” Harvard professor of African-American studies Henry Gates Jr. who’s race baiting big mouth helped land him into a nice matching set of police issue locking bracelets on July 16 descended from the same Irish lineage as the officer who hooked him up, Sergeant James Crowley.

I’m not sure which man is more disappointed after this discovery.

Henry Louis Gates Jr., the black professor at the center of the racial story involving his arrest outside his Harvard University-owned house, has spoken proudly of his Irish roots.

Strangely enough, he and the Cambridge, Mass., police officer who arrested him, Sgt. James Crowley, both trace their ancestry back to the legendary Niall of the Nine Hostages.

In a PBS series on African-American ancestry that he hosted in 2008, Gates discovered his Irish roots when he found he was descended from an Irish immigrant and a slave girl.

He went to Trinity College in Dublin to have his DNA analyzed. There he found that he shared 10 of the 11 DNA matches with offspring of Niall of the Nine Hostages, the fourth century warlord who created one of the dominant strains of Irish genealogy because he had so many offspring.

Tuesday July 28th

Obama’s home town sees coldest July in 65 years. Weird how Al Gore is nowhere to be found lately.

Have you left your air conditioner in the closet this summer, and worn long pants more often than shorts? If so, you may not be surprised to find out that Chicago is seeing its coldest July in more than 65 years. The National Weather Service says 2009 has seen the coldest July since the official recording station was moved away from the lakefront in 1942. The average temperature this month in Chicago has been a mere 68.9 degrees.

The next time some idiot tries to tell you Obamacare is the way to go hit them over the head with this.

1. President Barack Obama repeatedly tells us that one reason national health care is needed is that we can no longer afford to pay for Medicare and Medicaid. But if Medicare and Medicaid are fiscally insolvent and gradually bankrupting our society, why is a government takeover of medical care for the rest of society a good idea? What large-scale government program has not eventually spiraled out of control, let alone stayed within its projected budget? Why should anyone believe that nationalizing health care would create the first major government program to “pay for itself,” let alone get smaller rather than larger over time? Why not simply see how the Democrats can reform Medicare and Medicaid before nationalizing much of the rest of health care? [There’s 9 more…ed]

Government dolts can’t even get this stupid “cash for clunkers” right and we’re supposed to turn over our personal heathcare to them?

Some car shoppers are finding that their trade-in vehicles, which qualified for a “Cash for Clunkers” rebate last week, don’t this week thanks to changes in the EPA’s fuel economy ratings. One CNNMoney.com reader went to the Environmental Protection Agency’s fueleconomy.gov Web site on Sat., July 25, to double-check the fuel economy rating for his 1987 Mercury Grand Marquis. When he had visited previously, the car’s combined city and highway fuel economy was rated at 18 miles per gallon, making it eligible for the program.

Despite the state run media trying to convince the public that the economy is on the rebound even though it isn’t, consumer confidence tanks in July.

Confidence among U.S. consumers fell more than forecast in July, reflecting a surge in unemployment that threatens to undermine household spending. The Conference Board’s confidence index dropped to 46.6, a second consecutive decline, following a reading of 49.3 in June, a report from the New York-based group showed today. The figure reached a record low of 25.3 in February.

Ever notice when these left wingers get caught screwing around with grant money that it’s always “just a minor mistake?” This time it’s infamous cop insulter Henry Gates who gets nailed.

The Inkwell Foundation, a charity run by Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr., plans to file an amendment to a 2007 Internal Revenue Service report, after questions were raised about grants to staff members. Gates, the black professor at the center of a national debate over race relations after he was arrested two weeks ago by a white Cambridge police officer, said last night that he mischaracterized $11,000 in compensation to staff members as research grants. Acknowledging a report by www.propublica.org that first questioned the grants, he called the mistake an accounting error.

Say, check out these poll numbers for the newly liberated Sarah Palin.

So where does Sarah Palin stand right now? Well according to the recent Public Policy Poll (PPP) she is doing quite well, in fact she is in the lead of all potential GOP 2012 contenders. Sarah Palin favorability rating among conservative Republicans is 73%, Huckabee is at 65%, and Romney is at 53%. Sarah Palin also has a 45% approval rating among registered independents, which is just under half of their support. Sarah Palin also scored huge among Hispanic voters with a 51% approval rating, with not even a close second among GOP 2012 hopefuls. Sarah Palin also leads among GOP 2012 contenders with the 18-29 age range with 51% having a favorability rating in what is traditionally considered a Democratic stronghold.
