An Afghan soldier on guard at a joint base with U.S. troops shot dead two American servicemen and wounded two others as they slept, a provincial official said on Saturday. Shahedullah Shahed, spokesman for the governor of Wardak province west of Kabul, said the shooting took place after a combined team of Afghan and U.S. forces had returned from a joint operation late on Friday. “The Americans were in the middle of sleep when an Afghan soldier on duty opened fire on them,” Shahed said. Meltdown 101: Unemployment by the numbers

If the recession really is ending, someone forgot to tell the nation’s employers. A net total of 263,000 jobs vanished from the economy last month — much worse than economists’ expectation of 180,000 job losses. The Labor Department figures set the stage for a scenario that labor analysts expect: that joblessness will continue to rise for several months or more after the economy starts to rebound. The unemployment rate stands at 9.8 percent, a 26-year high. The rate would have been higher if 571,000 people hadn’t dropped out of the labor force, which many did in frustration over failing to find jobs. That leaves 15.1 million Americans out of work, a huge pool of people. Many discouraged workers are likely to re-enter the labor market and compete for jobs that will eventually be created. [The “real” unemployment rate is close to 17% right now and will continue to rise in the foreseeable future. For every job opening available there are at least six people fighting for it. ACORN Plans Massive Layoffs

A credible source claims the embattled left-wing advocacy group ACORN is poised to announce massive staff layoffs but an ACORN spokesman denies this is the case. A credible source close to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now revealed that the activist network intends to lay off all staff members operating out of its New Orleans headquarters. All information provided by the source to this reporter in the past has turned out to be correct. However, ACORN spokesman Scott Levenson of the public relations firm The Advance Group in New York City said the source was incorrect. In an interview Friday afternoon with Levenson said (referring to BigGovernment.com), “You guys just can’t get it right. You’re wrong again.” [This massive group of crooked bums are far too important to the Democrats for them to just let ACORN fold up the tent and go away. After a police officer and his son found a floating trunk stuffed with a headless torso while fishing in Galveston Bay six years ago, it didn’t take long for authorities to figure out the dead man was the Houston captain of a Texas gang aligned with Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel. Letterman admits having sex with female employees

A CBS News employee is accused of trying to extort $2 million from David Letterman, forcing the late-night host to admit in an extraordinary monologue before millions of viewers that he had sexual relationships with female employees. Letterman said that “this whole thing has been quite scary.” But he mixed in jokes while outlining what had happened to him, seeming to confuse a laughing audience at Thursday’s taping about whether the story was true. Losing Faith in the Commander in Chief

The latest Fox News/Opinion Dymanic poll is chock-full of bad news for the president. But on foreign policy, the results are nothing short of stunning. On who they trust more to decide the next steps in Afghanistan. 66 percent say military commanders, while only 20 percent say the president. Even Democrats have more faith in the military commanders (by a 45 to 37 percent margin). On Iran, 69 percent say Obama has not been tough enough, including 55 percent of Democrats. Sixty-one percent favor a U.S. military action, if needed, to keep Iran from getting nuclear weapons. Fifty-one percent think Obama apologizes for American too much. [LOSING faith? Nearly half this country had no faith in this fraud a year and a half ago. What we have been saying all along about this guy is becoming more apparent each and every day…ed]

Importance of Issues

For nearly two years, economic issues have held the top spot in terms of importance among voters. But the latest national telephone survey shows that 83% now view government ethics and corruption as very important, placing it just ahead of the economy on a list of 10 key electoral issues regularly tracked by Rasmussen Reports. Eighty-two percent (82%) of voters see the economy as very important. This is the first time since October 2007 that voters have rated ethics and corruption as more important than the economy. Voters viewed the two issues evenly in November and December 2007 before placing a higher priority on the economy starting in January 2008. [Considering all of the scumbags Øbama has brought on board to “advise” him and all of the crooks in Congress passing legislation forcing us to live they way they think we should while they break every law on the books with impunity it’s little wonder citizens are fed up with the corruption and lack of ethics in government…ed]

U.S. Sept non-farm payrolls plunge 263,000

U.S. employers cut a deeper-than-expected 263,000 jobs in September, lifting the unemployment rate to 9.8 percent, according to a government report on Friday that fueled fears the weak labor market could undermine economic recovery. The Labor Department said the unemployment rate was the highest since June 1983 and payrolls had now dropped for 21 consecutive months. Analysts polled by Reuters had expected non-farm payrolls to drop 180,000 in September and the unemployment rate to rise to 9.8 percent from 9.7 percent the prior month. [So why isn’t the mainstream media excoriating this administration for the terrible job they have done with this economy since taking over the reins in January? Anti-Obama Sign Displayed on Metro Highway

An unusual sign has appeared along Interstate 70 in Blue Springs. If you are traveling in the eastbound lanes of the freeway between Adams Dairy Parkway and the Grain Valley exit you will see a sign that appears to be anti-President Barack Obama. The sign features the hammer and sickle, a symbol of communism and insinuates that Obama will jeopardize the first and second amendments to the Constitution, which are free speech and the right to keep and bear arms. ACORN plot found, Oklahoma GOP says

A Republican state legislator released documents Tuesday which he says show the community-organizing group ACORN focused on helping Democrats in three legislative races in the November 2008 election and had developed a game plan to “take power” in Oklahoma within five years. The documents, which include legislative district maps and various forms, were recovered from computers abandoned by ACORN workers in Oklahoma City, said Rep. Mike Reynolds, R-Oklahoma City. Also found was a script apparently used in Houston to go door-to-door to encourage voters to vote for Barack Obama in November 2008. “They say they’re not political, but one of the subdirectories was called political action plans,” Reynolds said. “It was their political plans to take over key targeted races in Oklahoma City to show how powerful they are.” [It’s time for the GOP to go after these ACORN bastards with a vengeance. A Livingston state representative is questioning whether Hardin officials and American Police Force have violated the Montana constitution. Representative Robert Ebinger says he became aware of the situation after Cascade and Park County law enforcement officials came to him asking questions about APF. The California-based security company planning to take over the Hardin jail promises to hire dozens of local employees. Last week they made their first local hire when they signed former Billings Gazette reporter Becky Shay as their director of public relations. Shay still needs a map to get around the 114,000 square foot facility. Video shows terror suspect Najibullah Zazi trying to rent U-Haul trucks

Video footage shows terror suspect Najibullah Zazi and several cohorts trying to rent trucks in Colorado the week before the 9/11 anniversary, it was reported Wednesday. The men were captured on security videotapes asking about the trucks in a Colorado U-Haul International office, according to KUSA-TV Denver. U-Haul International spokeswoman Joanne Fried told the local station that FBI agents seized security videotapes of Zazi who was with two or three other men inside the rental location in suburban Aurora. [Makes one wonder just how close these guys really were to blowing the hell out some building full of people somewhere in this country…ed]

President Obama called New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly to thank him for his efforts in thwarting a planned terrorist attack on the city’s subway system, which counterterrorism experts describe as the most serious terror plot since 9/11. Criminal deportees often fly unescorted

Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials routinely put illegal immigrants unescorted on commercial flights for deportation, including some who are sex offenders or have other criminal records, according to documents and field agent accounts. The practice has prompted complaints from a key U.S. senator and ICE union leaders, who contend that putting illegal immigrants convicted of serious crimes on commercial airlines unescorted poses a severe public safety risk. Unescorted deportees have caused disruptions on flights and have absconded after unscheduled stops, including two Peruvian deportees who disappeared from Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport in July, according to field agent reports collected by union officials. Internal ICE documents show that illegal immigrants convicted of sex crimes involving victims as young as 11 have been allowed to fly unescorted. As the field director of ACORN’s Las Vegas office, he brainstormed a way to motivate meagerly paid canvassers: If they turned in 21 or more registration cards in a day, they were each given a $5 bonus. “Hey, it’s Las Vegas,” Edwards testified Tuesday. “It’s blackjack.” But Edwards’ “blackjack bonuses,” which he bragged about to other ACORN offices, broke the law, state prosecutors say. FEMA Grant to ACORN is Offensive

Earlier this month and despite the public scrutiny over the voter fraud and felony criminal activity associated with ACORN, the Department of Homeland Security went ahead and granted $997,402 to ACORN under the FY 2008 Fire Prevention and Safety Program. To most people, the timing and the amount of the grant would seem off base, but when you take into account the fact that DHS awarded ACORN–an organization with no clear expertise in fire safety and prevention–a fire prevention and safety grant, it’s just plain offensive. With fire departments all over Louisiana – and the rest of the country – struggling to make ends meet and get the equipment and training they need to protect their local communities, the idea of a million dollar grant going to ACORN is unsettling, to say the least. [A million dollars to this corrupt group from FEMA for fire prevention and safety? The only think these ACORN thugs are good for is breaking the law, what the hell do they know about fire prevention and safety?
