A review of Microsoft’s new search engine ‘Bing’ with a look at some screen shots.

I’ll have to admit that I didn’t expect Bing, Microsoft’s latest effort to win the search wars, to be very good. My expectations were based on the company’s current product, Live Search, and the standard set by the search leader, Google. But I got access to the beta version of Bing – which won’t be generally available until Wednesday – on Thursday night, and after poking around for a while, I have to say that it’s better than I thought it would be.

Cop On Cop Shooting Spurs Race Baiter Al Sharpton Into Action

New York–A young black off duty police officer chasing after a man he caught breaking into his car was shot late Thursday night by a white officer, identified as Andrew Dunton, who apparently mistook him as the assailant. The officer who was shot and later died at the hospital, Omar J. Edwards, was running after the car burglar with a gun in his hand when the foot pursuit was noticed by a team of undercover officers in an unmarked car who happened to be driving down the street. The team whipped a U-turn and went after the duo and from there the situation seems to have gone downhill very quickly.

It’s too soon to know exactly what happened but what is very troubling, besides the fact the NYPD lost a young member of the force, is the fact the fatal round entered the deceased officer’s back. The justification for shooting someone from behind is fairly limited so I think the officer who fired the shots is going to have a very difficult time explaining his reasoning for doing so and just might find himself in some serious legal trouble. The civil case will probably be a slam dunk however.

Now enter race baiter extraordinaire Al Sharpton never one to hold back whenever there is a white on black incident but virtually silent when black teenagers are blowing each other’s brains out in the streets of Detroit, DC, Chicago and New Orleans every day of the year.

Sharpton claims there is a “growing pattern of black officers being killed” by fellow white officers. “Even though we don’t know all that what happened, what we do know is disturbing and alarming and we’re starting to see a pattern. I think that the federal government needs to look at the pattern of what’s going on in this state.”

A pattern as in this happens all the time Mr. Sharpton?

He cites a single but similar situation involving Christopher Ridley in Mt. Vernon New York where the 23 year old officer was off duty, involved in a fracas and had his gun out when he was confronted by four on duty police officers. Ridley was subsequently shot and killed when he ignored orders to drop his weapon. The officers, one white, one black and two Hispanic, were later cleared of any wrongdoing. As far as I could tell from the news source that was the only example Sharpton could cite to substantiate his claim that white officers killing black officers is a troubling pattern that needs to be investigated by the Obama administration.

We all realize police work is a very tough business to be in but young officers have got to understand when they are off duty and see a non life threatening crime going down the best way to deal with the situation is to call fellow on duty officers to the scene then assist if requested. Getting involved with a couple of people fighting or someone breaking into a car while off duty, out of uniform and waving a gun around, no matter what color your skin is, put responding officers in a very difficult position especially if they don’t recognize the person claiming to be a fellow cop.

As far as Sharpton is concerned, maybe he should spend less time getting involved in situations where he has no business and spend more time cleaning up his own crooked act.

The Rev. Al Sharpton and his National Action Network have been slapped with a record $285,000 fine for violating a slew of federal election rules during his 2004 bid for president, the Post has learned.

In a decision to be made public next month, the Federal Election Commission found that Sharpton’s Democratic primary campaign accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions from private sources.

It also “kept poor records of its activities and expenditures” and commingled funds with Sharpton’s civil-rights group. All are prohibited under the Federal Election Campaign Act.

Earlier this month, Sharpton and former campaign manager Andrew Rivera signed an agreement with the FEC to pay the fine — among the highest in the regulatory body’s 34-year history.

“Sharpton 2004 materially misstated its receipts and disbursements, as well as cash on hand in 2004,” says the April 8 FEC report, which followed an investigation of the Sharpton campaign’s expenses.

The review followed a 2004 complaint to the FEC from the National Legal and Policy Center, a Virginia-based watchdog group.

“We are pleased that the FEC has ruled on our complaint and found that Sharpton ran an off-the-books presidential campaign,” said the center’s chairman, Ken Boehm.

At one point, Sharpton racked up $509,188 in campaign expenses on his American Express card. His campaign committee paid $121,996, according to the FEC, but the bulk was paid by the National Action Network and two private corporations controlled by Sharpton. A further $65,000 was paid by unknown sources, the FEC investigation found.

Obama Dislocates Both Shoulders Patting Himself On The Back

obama_cream_of_nothing-copy

In an extraordinary display of unmitigated stupidity a room full of blithering idiots, in lock step with their hero Barack Obama who struts around like he won 93% of the vote instead of the pedestrian 53% of the goofs he managed to completely fool, cheer, whoop it up and applaud every time he mentions how much taxpayer money he has blown since slithering into our White House.

It’s rather comical how he claims he took over in the midst of the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression when it fact this whole financial mess was brought about in large part, by Democrats going all the way back to the previous worst president Americans were forced to endure, one termer Jimmy Carter.

Hoooo boy did he ever manage to get the largest economic stimulus package this country has ever had to choke on passed and the result has been exactly what? Skyrocketing unemployment, businesses closing their doors all over the country, deserted shopping malls and an economy that shrunk 5.7% in the first quarter of the year. The number of home foreclosures due to job loss and people simply walking from upside down mortgages is staggering despite Obama’s claims that his administration has put into place policies to stabilize the housing market. In reality the Obama administration has dumped, wasted and pissed away billions in a stupid and failed effort to keep people, who had no prayer of paying their mortgages even after receiving taxpayer assistance, in their homes.

GM stock is trading at 77 cents a share at this particular moment now that it’s pretty clear the government will be running the company long into the foreseeable future which means the auto manufacturer will be forced to churn out crappy little cars that nobody wants driving GM further down that rabbit hole to oblivion. Health care stocks are tanking out of fear the government will soon begin imposing new mandates and price controls. The huge taxing scheme, obscurely referred to as cap and trade, is hanging over the heads of every single person living within the U.S. not to mention an across the board tax hike we will all be getting hammered with soon enough necessitated by Obama’s unprecedented and out of control spending spree. Obama’s never ending assault on and hostility toward our free market system has the very risk-taking capitalists and entrepreneurs necessary and essential to a sustainable economic recovery unwilling to stick their necks out in fear they will lose, or have taken away, everything they have worked so hard for their entire adult lives.

Had the knuckleheads sitting in that room rolled their tongues up off the floor and opened their ears they may have caught Obama saying this country will be paying the health insurance costs for the children of people in this country illegally!

Sure thing there Obama after all we have plenty of money to throw around don’t we?

Taxpayers are on the hook for an extra $55,000 a household to cover rising federal commitments made just in the past year for retirement benefits, the national debt and other government promises, a USA TODAY analysis shows.

The 12% rise in red ink in 2008 stems from an explosion of federal borrowing during the recession, plus an aging population driving up the costs of Medicare and Social Security.

That’s the biggest leap in the long-term burden on taxpayers since a Medicare prescription drug benefit was added in 2003.

The latest increase raises federal obligations to a record $546,668 per household in 2008, according to the USA TODAY analysis. That’s quadruple what the average U.S. household owes for all mortgages, car loans, credit cards and other debt combined.

“We have a huge implicit mortgage on every household in America — except, unlike a real mortgage, it’s not backed up by a house,” says David Walker, former U.S. comptroller general, the government’s top auditor.

[It seems the author took great pains to avoid pinning an ounce of responsibility for the country’s financial morass on the Obama administration by CONSTANTLY reminding us the figures quoted are for the year 2008. Again, it’s all Bush’s fault folks…ed]

Well he was just about done slapping himself on the back when he spit out this little gem about his SCOTUS nominee Sonia Sotomayor,

This woman is brilliant–she is qualified–I want her confirmed–I want her walking up those marble steps and start to provide some justice!

What the hell is he talking about “provide some justice?” The Supreme Court hasn’t been providing any justice all these years without Sotomayor sitting on the bench? Or is it more like she embodies the same views Obama has about how unjust this country has been to the poor, the weak…the minorities and it’s time for some serious payback to those who have rode roughshod over these groups since the founding of our country? Hmmm, I wonder if Clarence Thomas is merely chopped liver in Obama’s eyes?

Well, I guess he is!

As far as Obama wanting, actually demanding she be confirmed, well hot dang what president doesn’t want their nominee to sail right through their Senate confirmation hearing? But then again when Obama was a U.S. Senator he had a little different take on this whole confirmation process especially when a Republican president and conservative nominee were involved.

As we all know, there’s been a lot of discussion in the country about how the Senate should approach this confirmation process. There are some who believe that the President, having won the election, should have the complete authority to appoint his nominee, and the Senate should only examine whether or not the Justice is intellectually capable and an all-around nice guy. That once you get beyond intellect and personal character, there should be no further question whether the judge should be confirmed.

I disagree with this view. I believe firmly that the Constitution calls for the Senate to advise and consent. I believe that it calls for meaningful advice and consent that includes an examination of a judge’s philosophy, ideology, and record. And when I examine the philosophy, ideology, and record of Samuel Alito, I’m deeply troubled.

I have no doubt that Judge Alito has the training and qualifications necessary to serve. He’s an intelligent man and an accomplished jurist. And there’s no indication he’s not a man of great character.

But when you look at his record – when it comes to his understanding of the Constitution, I have found that in almost every case, he consistently sides on behalf of the powerful against the powerless; on behalf of a strong government or corporation against upholding American’s individual rights.

If there is a case involving an employer and an employee and the Supreme Court has not given clear direction, he’ll rule in favor of the employer. If there’s a claim between prosecutors and defendants, if the Supreme Court has not provided a clear rule of decision, then he’ll rule in favor of the state. He’s rejected countless claims of employer discrimination, even refusing to give some plaintiffs a hearing for their case. He’s refused to hold corporations accountable numerous times for dumping toxic chemicals into water supplies, even against the decisions of the EPA. He’s overturned a jury verdict that found a company liable for being a monopoly when it had over 90% of the market share at the time.

It’s not just his decisions in these individual cases that give me pause – it’s that decisions like these are the rule for Samuel Alito, not the exception.

When it comes to how checks and balances in our system are supposed to operate – the balance of power between the Executive Branch, Congress, and the Judiciary, Judge Alito consistently sides with the notion that a President should not be constrained by either Congressional acts or the check of the Judiciary. He believes in the overarching power of the President to engage in whatever the President deems to be appropriate policy. As a consequence of this, I’m extraordinarily worried about how Judge Alito might approach issues like wiretapping, monitoring of emails, or other privacy concerns that we’ve seen surface over the last several months.

In sum, I’ve seen an extraordinarily consistent attitude on the part of Judge Alito that does not uphold the traditional role of the Supreme Court as a bastion of equality and justice for United States citizens.

Should he be confirmed, I hope that he proves me wrong. I hope that he shows the independence that I think is absolutely necessary in order for us to preserve our liberties and protect our citizens.

Yes that was a pretty rousing crowd that was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to listen to Obama brag about his phantom accomplishments. I just hope there was a doctor in the house who was qualified enough to reset his dislocated shoulders after the gig was over.

Obama bobbleheads intended as giveaways at baseball game, held up by custom officials. Something about a birth certificate…

President Barack Obama bobbleheads that are supposed to be given away at a minor-league baseball game apparently haven’t gotten the nod from customs officials. The West Virginia Power Class A baseball team said Thursday that 1,000 of the figures have been held up at a U.S. Customs and Border Protection warehouse in Los Angeles since May 20. A U.S. Customs spokeswoman in Los Angeles said she didn’t have more information on why they were stalled.

Your skin is just crawling with bacteria but hey it’s good for you.

Here’s a finding that’ll make your skin crawl: A healthy human epidermis is colonized by roughly 1,000 species of bacteria. Furthermore, the microorganisms have evolved to exploit the unique attributes of those body parts they call home, according to a study to be published today in the journal Science. Some thrive in the desert of the forearm. Others are happiest in the tropical rain forest of the armpit.

New York teacher arrested for doing the wild thing with 14 year old student. She is resting in jail now facing a multitude of serious charges.

A Queens teacher and her student were recently caught having sex in the classroom. On Thursday she was behind bars, charged with rape, sexual abuse and child endangerment after the student’s mom tracked her down. Her head hung low, Melissa Weber was ushered away in cuffs, no doubt thinking about the probable end to her teaching career and whether her alleged sexual rendezvous with her 14-year-old student had been worth it.

29 year old man has 21 offspring with 11 different women. The state has to pick up the tab for most of them.

Desmond Hatchett’s extended offspring came to light after authorities in Tennessee in the U.S. took him to court for non-payment of child support. He has apparently set a U.S. record but said: “It just happened.” Many Knoxville residents called for him to be castrated. But Mr Hatchett said he would not have any more children. “I’m done. I’ll say I’m done,” he said. Hatchett, who earns a minimal wage, told TV reporters he knows the names and ages of all his offspring. Their ages range from newborn to 11 years old.

Doctor miscommunication and misdiagnoses results in woman losing all four limbs. First lawsuit tossed, round two coming up.

Through a series of mistakes, miscommunications and misdiagnoses, she wound up having her arms and legs amputated. She sued the doctors, who essentially blamed one another for what everyone involved agrees were profound errors. Everyone except the jury that ruled against Strong.

Man arrested for beating up his roommate. Police release the man. The man returns to his apartment and finishes the guy off by stabbing him to death. Man back in custody.

The decision to release a man suspected of domestic-violence assault has prompted an internal police investigation after the man allegedly returned to his South Seattle apartment Thursday morning and fatally stabbed the roommate he’d beat up hours earlier. A manhunt for the suspect, identified as Valente Alvarez-Guerrero, 40, ended around 6 p.m. Thursday when he was arrested in Fresno, Calif., according to Seattle police. A spokesman couldn’t provide any details of his arrest.

Facial recognition software requires people seeking drivers license in Virgina to keep the grinning to a bare minimum when having their picture taken.

Beginning in early June, people in Hampton Roads won’t be able to put a big grin on their faces for their driver’s license photos. Hampton, Newport News and other communities are joining the rest of Virginia in adopting a “neutral face expression” policy. “Contrary to what’s being said in the media about the ‘no smile’ policy, you can still smile,” said Melanie Stokes, public and media relations manager for DMV. “You just cannot have your mouth open in the photo.”

Apparently unable to see the big picture an Oregon woman goes on trial for feeding bears saying they’re perfectly safe, timed, really sweet. I’m going to go out on a limb here and say she voted for Obama.

When Dena Pickner awoke to a commotion at her Yachats house last June, she expected to find a raccoon. Instead, she climbed out of bed and saw a black bear coming through her dog door. “His head was stuck and he couldn’t get out,” Pickner told those in a court room at the Lincoln County Courthouse in Newport this morning. “He grunted, backed up and took the dog door with him.” Two weeks later, the black bear was dead, one of four shot to death in a four-week period last summer in Yachats. Now a Yachats woman is on trial for feeding the bears — and allegedly putting herself and her community in harm’s way.

82 year old codger arrested after beating up his girlfriend for loading the dishwasher in a manner he apparently didn’t much care for.

A 74-year-old woman told Volusia County deputies her boyfriend strangled and beat her because she loaded the dishes into their dishwasher the wrong way. Lillian Keller told deputies her live-in boyfriend, 82-year-old Joseph F. Strauch became angry at her on Wednesday afternoon after she loaded the dishes at their Deltona home, a Volusia County Sheriff’s Office report said.

Orlando cops who write the most tickets, arrest the most people get big rewards. The officers who aren’t so eager about issuing citations wind up with the crappy assignments.

An internal memo that Eyewitness News obtained shows officers who have the least arrests and tickets get the worst assignments and the officers with the most arrests and tickets are rewarded. Orlando police officers are seen everyday writing tickets and making arrests. The agency doesn’t have quotas, but there is a new policy in place. Obama Security Threat? Black Reporter Involuntarily Hauled Away From LAX Press Area

Brenda Lee, a black female reporter for a small monthly Georgia newspaper, had been waiting in the press area at Los Angeles International airport with the hope of giving Barack Obama a letter which she claimed contained a request for him to take a firm stand on traditional marriage. Evidently this woman had initially asked a secret service agent to pass the document on to Mr. Obama but he declined telling her to hand it over to a presidential staff member instead. She rejected that approach and decided she would try presenting the letter to Obama herself. Just about then things went south in a hurry.

Sensing a potential security threat Ms. Lee was asked to leave the area and when she refused she was gracefully picked up by her ankles and armpits and hauled away by airport security personnel.

What a story for the grandkids huh?

Michigan Gov Jennifer Granholm Chops A Million Dollars From Veteran Groups Funding

Canadian born Democrat Governor Jennifer Granholm has cut funding for veterans’ service organizations in Michigan by one million dollars or some 25%. These groups have run programs designed to assist veterans winding their way through all of the red tape involved with seeking disability and pension benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

Without the assistance of these groups our injured, disabled and aged military veterans will be faced with having to deal with the government bureaucracy on their own which we all know is an exercise in mind numbing aggravation. Just what an injured or disabled veteran returning from Iraq or Afghanistan needs to be screwing around with when they finally get home. Needless to say many veterans were outraged by this development and several gathered in front of the state capitol of Lansing last week to hold a rally in protest of the funding cuts. I’m sure the governor really cared.

The following article mentions that Michigan isn’t the only state where budget woes are forcing government officials to consider scaling back funding for veterans’ groups but apparently the only state to actually do so is Ohio which implemented a 10% cut this year.

Crime in Detroit surely isn’t going down but jail cells sit empty as arrests by the police drop like a rock.

Empty jail cells are normally something to celebrate, but Wayne County’s top law enforcement officials say the hundreds of vacant jail beds are not because of a drop in crime or more reasonable sentencing. Floors of the downtown Detroit jail are empty because police are arresting fewer people accused of those crimes. Altogether, three county jails that held about 2,500 prisoners a year ago now house 400 fewer inmates. Sheriff Warren Evans said police are so slow to respond to some calls that the crimes never get reported. Prosecutor Kym Worthy was more blunt: “We don’t tell the truth about crime,” she said.

He felt that vying for prom queen would better suit his personality, so he decided to seek that crown, running against a handful of female classmates.

Man hits horse wandering on a darkened roadway, both are killed.

The driver of a Nissan Sentra was killed early Thursday morning when he struck a horse, which came through his windshield. George David Satterfield, 56, of Comer, was traveling north on Georgia Highway 129 near I-985 in Hall County when a horse wandered into the roadway sometime shortly before 6 a.m. Satterfield was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt-force trauma to the head and upper torso, according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Mike Talton.

Couple claims $400,000 lotto prize one day before the expiration date would have rendered the ticket worthless.

Tomorrow would have been too late. But, luckily, news of an expiring $400,000 Powerball word got to a Cumberland County, Pa., couple in time – 50 weeks after she bought her ticket at Karns Foods, on Carlisle Pike in Mechanicsburg. “My husband . . . told me to check my shoebox of old tickets,” said Brenda Stover of New Cumberland. “I matched five-of-five numbers on one ticket, but I didn’t realize it was the one they were looking for.”

Massachusetts state representative Gloria Fox snuck murderer’s girlfriend into prison to visit him. The legislator lied to prison officials about her relationship with the woman.

State Rep. Gloria L. Fox is under state scrutiny for allegedly sneaking a murderer’s girlfriend – previously bagged for engaging in “sexual acts” with the killer con – into a state prison in Bridgewater, the Herald has learned. Using her State House-issued, all-access prison privileges, Fox, 67, visited convicted murderer Darrell Jones in the high-security segregation unit of the Old Colony Correctional Center with a woman the Roxbury Democrat claimed was her “best aide,” two prison sources told the Herald.

Judge says the identity theft company Lifelock’s fraud alert service is illegal.

In a decision that has privacy advocates and others scratching their heads, a federal judge has ruled that LifeLock has been breaking California law for years by placing fraud alerts on its customer’s credit profiles. The decision is a blow to the burgeoning identify-theft protection industry, and means that companies that experience data breaches may no longer be able to offer victims free subscriptions to such services — a standard damage-control tactic in recent years.

Bitter people will now be seen as having a mental illness? OK, I nominate all Daily Kos nutjobs right out of the chute.

You know them. I know them. And, increasingly, psychiatrists know them. People who feel they have been wronged by someone and are so bitter they can barely function other than to ruminate about their circumstances. This behavior is so common — and so deeply destructive — that some psychiatrists are urging it be identified as a mental illness under the name post-traumatic embitterment disorder. The behavior was discussed before an enthusiastic audience last week at a meeting of the American Psychiatric Assn. in San Francisco.

Quote of the day.

I think that the only reason Clarence Thomas is on the Court is because he is black. I don’t believe he could have won had he been white. And the reason is, I think it was a cynical ploy by President Bush.

SCOTUS Nominee Sotomayor Ruled Second Amendment Does Not Apply To States

2a_rifle-copy

Second Circuit Court Judge and U.S. Supreme Court nominee Sonia Sotomayor sat on the panel which ruled in the case Maloney v. Cuomo that the Second Amendment does not apply to individual states or citizens essentially saying the states do have the ability to ban firearms within their boundaries. According to scotusblog.com the ruling further stated that the Second Amendment applies “only to limitations the federal government seeks to impose” on the American citizens’ right to own and possess firearms, relying on an 1886 Supreme Court case Presser v. Illinois to come to its conclusion.

Note that this Second Circuit court decision came after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in DC v Heller that individual citizens do in fact have the right, as clearly spelled out by the Second Amendment, to own and possess firearms.

“The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home.”

“None of the Court’s precedents forecloses the Court’s interpretation. Neither United States v. Cruikshank, 92 U. S. 542, 553, nor Presser v. Illinois, 116 U. S. 252, 264–265, refutes the individual-rights interpretation. United States v. Miller, 307 U. S. 174, does not limit the right to keep and bear arms to militia purposes, but rather limits the type of weapon to which the right applies to those used by the militia, i.e., those in common use for lawful purposes.

Sotomayor’s panel did address the SCOTUS decision in DC v Heller in their appellate ruling,

The Supreme Court’s recent decision in District of Columbia v. Heller, the court continued, “does not invalidate this longstanding principle.” And while acknowledging the possibility that “Heller might be read to question the continuing validity of this principle,” the panel deemed itself bound to follow Presser because it “directly controls, leaving to the Supreme Court the prerogative of overruling its own decisions.”

Memorial Day Flag Display Offends Texas Hospital Supervisor—A Non Citizen Immigrant

american_flag-copy

Debbie McLucas hung our American flag in her Mansfield Texas Kindred Hospital office, which she shares with several other hospital supervisors, this past Memorial Day in remembrance and in honor of those who gave their all for this country and in fact for people all over this planet. McLucas knows a little bit about sacrifice as both her husband and son are former military men, subject to recall of course, and her daughter is currently serving in Iraq as a combat medic. It is almost incomprehensible someone could be offended that this woman had displayed our flag in her office but then again anything is possible these days.

It turns out a fellow hospital supervisor, who shares the office with McLucas, came to this country from Africa 14 years ago and has never bothered to become an American citizen yet was offended at the display of our flag during the Memorial Day holiday observance. This individual was not only upset and complained to their supervisor but they had the audacity to take our flag, wrap it around its display pole then lay it down on the floor in the corner of the room like it was some elementary school stage prop.

Oddly it was reported other patients and their families were also “offended” by the display of our flag within the hospital supervisor’s office which begs the question how did they know it was there unless someone was deliberately spreading some American flag hatred throughout the hospital?
