Well George Soros did toss in a few bucks by prying open his wallet for an additional $35 million bringing the total handed out only to welfare and food stamp recipients with children in New York earlier this week to $175 million. Of course when you have made over one billion dollars off the recent collapse of the American economy and are worth some seven BILLION dollars as it is, 35 million bucks is walking around money for this man.
This no-strings-attached free money handout prompted public assistance recipients to swarm banks and check cashing businesses so they could withdraw the $200 cash per child which miraculously appeared on their benefits cards, money which was claimed to be intended for parents to purchase back to school clothing and supplies. While there is no way to insure the recipients of this taxpayer (for the most part) funded shopping spree will spend the money as intended one can be virtually certain cash registers at establishments that do not sell anything remotely related to back-to-school items became much busier than usual just prior to the normal welfare assistance “payday” which I believe lands right around the 15th of the month.
Now it’s nobody’s beeswax how much money Soros wants to hand out to welfare recipients in fact the more he gives to these folks the less he has to shovel into the coffers of the likes of MoveOn.org, Code Pink, The Open Society Institute, Center for American Progress and literally DOZENS of other anti American far left wing groups, a current list of which can be found here but keep in mind this guy forms new partnerships and creates new entities dedicated to undermining the American way of life and our Constitution all the time so no list could ever be complete.
Understand that few people in this country mind lending a hand to their fellow citizens who are truly in need and with three million jobs lost in the seven months Obama and his cronies in Congress have been running the show there are plenty of folks who have found themselves needing some form of public assistance for the first time in their adult lives. These people have worked and paid into the system for years and there is nothing wrong with having that safety net available in these troubled economic times so they aren’t the ones most of us have a beef with.
It’s the people who have used welfare and food stamps for generations as their primary source of income that really get the hardworking productive taxpayers ticked off and for many this $140 million handout would be a another example of what is wrong with system. Some form of community service, especially these days with cities cutting their budgets to the bone, should have been a requirement to receive this handout but as we all know this was nothing but a publicity stunt by the liberals, who are famous by the way of being extremely tight fisted with their own money, to appear to be compassionate and caring towards the poor unfortunate disadvantaged among us who couldn’t survive if left to their own devices and must depend on the government for their daily subsistence.
Give a man a fish and feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and feed him for the rest of his life.
