Suspect in vandalism leftist, not Republican

A suspect in a case of vandalism at the Colorado Democratic headquarters was once a paid campaign worker for a Democratic candidate for the legislature, despite the state party chief having blamed hate-fomented opposition to Democratic health care plans. Maurice Schwenkler, 24, was arrested in Denver on Tuesday on a charge of criminal mischief after windows were smashed at the Democratic offices. Many of the windows displayed posters supporting health care reform. “We ought to be having a serious, conscientious debate about what’s best for the country,” state Democratic Party Chairwoman Pat Waak said Tuesday. “Clearly, there’s been an effort on the other side to stir up hate. I think this is the consequence of it.” [I smelled a ‘RAT right off the bat when I first heard about this incident and you know the lamestream media, after initially reporting the vandalism, will not perform any kind of follow up…ed]

Students’ take-home assignment: Census kits

Anyone tempted to ignore the 2010 Census will have a tough time doing it — especially if they have kids in school. The government has launched Census in Schools, an all-out campaign targeting superintendents, principals, teachers, students and, indirectly, parents, as schools open across the nation this month and next. The message: The Census is coming and here’s why everyone should care. [Around my house the adults have always been in charge, not the kids. But then again we do have a lot of “linguistically isolated” (read illegal aliens) people living in this country that the Democrats are desperate to include in the upcoming census…ed]

Obama’s 09 deficit exceeds all eight years of Bush red ink

How much is President Obama boosting federal spending? The Heritage Foundation’s Brian Riedl puts a little perspective on the numbers made public today:

· This year, Washington will spend $30,958 per household, tax $17,576 per household, and borrow $13,392 per household. This spending is not just temporary: President Obama would permanently keep annual spending between $5,000 and $8,000 per household higher than it had been under President Bush. [Yet the idiots on the left keep bawling their eyes out over the focus group developed term “failed economic policies of the Bush administration.” At least true conservatives hammered Bush over his out of control spending, something the liberals will obviously never do with Obama…ed]

Brace yourself: Beer prices are going up

Beer drinkers beware: The cost of a cold one is going up. Brewers across the globe are hiking prices to compensate for lower sales volumes and higher commodity costs. Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world’s largest brewer and maker of Budweiser, announced plans to raise prices Tuesday. “We plan on taking price increases on a majority of volume and in a majority of markets this fall,” Anheuser-Busch InBev said in a statement. “The increase helps cover some input costs.” [Sales tank so the industry raises prices?…ed]

California state garage sale: Many things must go

Well, the countdown is continuing for the Great California Garage Sale this Friday and Saturday. The Golden State is in so much financial distress that it lost its lease and everything must go. Not really, but Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger decided to mark the end of soft news summer days with a sale of surplus, unused or wasteful state property. To enhance interest and bidding, the ex-movie star even autographed the sun visors of some vehicles for sale. [Not a bad idea but won’t raise enough money to pay the cost for half the illegal aliens in prison for a lousy month. Maybe California could just impose a big and permanent wealth tax on all of the uber rich left wing movie stars and entertainers living in the state?…ed]

Obama’s Carousel of Incompetence

According to the Gallup Poll, the Prophet Obama’s job approval is now at its lowest since his coronation. It began at 70 percent. Now it is at 51 percent. Equally glum, his disapproval rating has climbed from 11 percent to 42 percent. (SNIP) My belief, based on reports in the news and from my private network of seasoned agents and provocateurs, is that this White House is a carousel of incompetence. How else do we explain the ravening push on all fronts — health care, the environment, fiscal reform, intelligence reform and a foreign policy of humility and apology? Unsurprisingly, on every front, the president is in trouble. [The 2010 election will be a monumentally important event in which we have what may be our last chance to save this country as we know it and Obama/Congress know it. Let’s hope elections are still part of the American way of life come next year…ed]

Lockerbie Bomber al-Megrahi's Release A Big Fake Out?

C’mon who REALLY believes the convicted murderer of 270 people–180 of them American citizens, Libyan Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi, the lone person sent to prison for the destruction of Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie Scotland had only a lousy three months to live? I sure didn’t.

The Scotsman–Justice secretary Kenny MacAskill was last night under pressure to reveal more details of the medical evidence that led to the release of the Lockerbie bomber, after it emerged that only one doctor was willing to say Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed al-Megrahi had less than three months to live.
Labour and Conservative politicians have demanded the Scottish Government publish details of the doctor’s expertise and qualifications, amid suggestions he or she may not have been a prostate cancer expert.

The parties have also raised questions over whether the doctor was employed by the Libyan government or Megrahi’s legal team, which could have influenced the judgment.

The evidence provided by the doctor is crucial as compassionate release under Scots law requires that a prisoner has less than three months to live.

Doubts about Megrahi’s life expectancy have already been raised by American relatives of the 270 victims of the bomb that blew up Pan Am flight 103 over Lockerbie on 21 December, 1988. But last night the Scottish Government said it would not publish details of the individual who gave the crucial advice.

Mr MacAskill has said he based his decision to release Megrahi on the opinions of a range of experts.

But this is contradicted by a decisive report sent to Mr MacAskill on 10 August.

Senator Edward Kennedy dies at age 77

U.S. Senator Edward Kennedy, a towering figure in the Democratic Party who took the helm of one of America’s most fabled political families after two older brothers were assassinated, died at age 77, his family said. “Edward M. I Thought Obama Said Unemployment Wouldn't Move Beyond Eight Percent?

unemployment rate - Copy

Yeah I’m pretty sure I heard him say that,

Fox News–Vice President Joe Biden said Sunday that “everyone guessed wrong” on the impact of the economic stimulus, but he defended the administration’s spending designed to combat rising joblessness. (SNIP) “The bottom line is that jobs are being created that would not have been there before,” Biden said.

But they are not coming at the pace first estimated.

Just 10 days before taking office, Obama’s top economic advisers released a report predicting unemployment would remain at 8 percent of below through this year if an economic stimulus plan won congressional approval.

Yet the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that unemployment in May rose to 9.4 percent.
Biden said the White House is keenly aware of the gap between the rhetoric used to sell fast passage of the legislation and the reality that has 14.5 million people unemployed.

In fact the “unemployment rate” has hovered right around 9.5% for the last several months but is that the true percentage of Americans who are out of a job and are ready willing and able to work?

Washington Post–The official national unemployment rate dropped to 9.4 percent in July from 9.5 percent in June, the Labor Department reported Friday, even though the economy lost 247,000 jobs. (SNIP) Q: So why is the labor force shrinking? Isn’t the U.S. population still growing?

A: Yes. And this gets to the heart of the way the Labor Department counts unemployment, which is not without controversy. The monthly count is based on a rotating survey of 60,000 homes, which statistically represents the U.S. labor force of 154 million. That is not the controversial part; that is standard and accepted statistical method.

The controversy is this: In the survey, the Labor Department only counts you as unemployed if you meet a number of tests, including whether you actively looked for work in the four previous weeks. If you did not — and even if you do not have a job — the Labor Department counts you “marginally attached” to the labor force and not part of the official monthly computation.

The Labor Department does, however, take note of you and includes you in another monthly unemployment number — which some believe paints a more accurate picture of the economy — that includes everyone who should have a full-time job but does not. These include the “discouraged,” who have given up looking for work and those working part time who would rather be working full time. For July, this number was 16.3 percent, down from a recent-history high of 16.5 percent in June.

Obama Weekly Approval Average Now 52%, a New Low

President Barack Obama’s most recent weekly job approval rating is 52% for the seven-day period ending on Sunday, similar to the 54% reading from the previous week but down significantly from 59% a month ago. His average disapproval rating during the past week is 41%. In June, Obama maintained approval ratings in the 60% range, roughly twice his disapproval rating. Obama still enjoys a double-digit gap between his average approval and average disapproval scores — 11 percentage points for the week of Aug. 17-23. However, that buffer has shrunk considerably since mid-July, due to diminished support across the board. Obama Allies Find Words Fail Them

In the rhetorical battle over health care, the forces backing President Barack Obama’s overhaul have spent years polling and using focus groups to find the precise language that would win over voters — an effort that doesn’t at the moment appear to be working. When Mr. Obama told grass-roots organizers last week that the mandatory purchase of health insurance would “be affordable, based on a sliding scale,” the phrasing precisely mirrored language that had been poll-tested and put before batteries of focus groups by Democratic consultants over the past few years. Angel Flights, the nonprofit organization which flies people who are critically ill to off-Island medical appointments, has shut down Martha’s Vineyard operations this week, apparently in reaction to flight restrictions in place for the duration of the presidential vacation visit to the Island. The move came despite assurances that special dispensation was made for the mercy flight operators during temporary flight restriction (TFR) orders to protect air space over Martha’s Vineyard from August 23 to 30. 2010 SENATE CAMPAIGN: Polls show potential GOP challengers would beat Harry Reid

It’s the highest stakes ever for a Nevada election, and former boxer Sen. Harry Reid is on the ropes early. The results suggest the Democratic Senate majority leader will have to punch hard and often in order to retain his position as the most accomplished politician in state history, in terms of job status. Nevadans favored Tarkanian over Reid 49 percent to 38 percent and Lowden over Reid 45 percent to 40 percent, according to the poll. [Dingy Harry is feeling the heat in Nevada. Health care and the ailing Constitution

Here’s the question I didn’t get a chance to ask President Obama when he stopped by Montana recently. So far as I know, no one else has asked it of him either: “If the federal role in health care is not enumerated in the Constitution, and it isn’t, then shouldn’t it be reserved to the states or the people as guaranteed by the 10th Amendment?” The 10th Amendment, for those of you who don’t already know, says, “The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” Pretty powerful stuff, if anyone followed it — but they don’t. Paterson whines: ‘RACISM!’

Gov. Paterson has played the race card. The state’s first black governor yesterday blamed his political woes — and those of President Obama — on a white-dominated media that he accused of taking part in an “orchestrated” attack campaign. “We’re not in the post-racial period,” Paterson said in a freewheeling interview on the liberal talk-radio station WWRL. “My feeling is it’s being orchestrated, it’s a game, and people who pay attention know that.” [Turns out Obama wasn’t too pleased with this little race card outburst by the utter failure of a governor…ed]

Peeved Obama trumps Paterson’s race card

President Obama’s aides were so furious that Gov. Paterson dragged him into a rant about racism that they sent a message sharply criticizing the governor’s comments just hours after he made them, The Post has learned. Aides to Obama were angered by Paterson’s tirade on liberal talk-radio station WWRL on Friday, sources said. [I’d say most of this country has grown beyond weary with these black politicians who’s performance in office sucks, blaming racism on their problems. ‘Clunkers’ Program Benefits Foreign Automakers More, Data Shows

The Obama administration has declared the wildly popular ‘Cash for Clunkers’ program a success, saying it has revived the country’s ailing auto industry and taken polluting vehicles off the road. But the data shows that the program, which ends Monday, has apparently benefited foreign automakers more than their U.S. counterparts. Smaller, more fuel efficient vehicles like the Toyota Corolla are top sellers, while buyers are trading in SUV’s like the Ford Explorer to be scrapped, turning the already dwindling number of American car owners into the growing ranks of foreign car drivers. Barack Hussein Obama Continues To Kiss Muslim Ass While Lockerbie Bomber Parties Back Home

Pan-Am_103_lockerbie - Copy

On Wednesday December 21, 1988 189 Americans aboard Pan Am flight 103 heading from London to New York were blown out of the sky falling over 30,000 feet to their deaths with many found on the ground strapped in their seats apparently uninjured from the blast itself. Nobody can say for certain just how far down they rode their seat before they perished but one thing is certain many people didn’t die immediately after the plane broke apart. I can’t begin to imagine what may have been going through the minds of what was left of the 259 passengers who weren’t killed immediately after the bomb blast as they were contemplating their certain doom.

Yesterday the only person convicted of this horrendous crime, a man who wound up spending just about two weeks per murdered victim behind bars, became a free man when a Scottish judge released him because it is claimed he is suffering from terminal cancer and has “only” three months to live. I can’t help but wonder how long it takes to fall 35,000 feet?

Today Libyan Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi is living large indeed after receiving a ‘hero’s welcome’ as he stepped from the airplane that brought him home.

Reuters–The United States and Britain on Friday condemned a “hero’s welcome” given to the newly released Lockerbie bomber, with London scrambling to stem fallout from the decision to free him on humanitarian grounds. (SNIP) Hundreds of young Libyans gathered at an airport in Tripoli to welcome Megrahi home on Thursday and cheered and waved national flags as his car sped away. Large public gatherings are rare and are usually tightly controlled in Libya.

Mr. Obama and others in his administration issued the obligatory “outrage” over the release of Megrahi and subsequent boisterous welcome once he arrived on Libyan soil,

“I think it was highly objectionable,” U.S. President Barack Obama told reporters at the White House, referring to the welcome Megrahi received.

“It is disturbing to see images suggesting that Megrahi was accorded a hero’s welcome instead of being treated as a convicted murderer,” said White House spokesman Bill Burton.

US attorney general Eric Holder said: ‘We are extremely disappointed with the Scottish Executive’s decision to release Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi. The interests of justice have not been served by this decision. There is simply no justification for releasing this convicted terrorist whose actions took the lives of 270 individuals, including 189 Americans.”

Yawn…

Obama Is Such A Charming Liar

A phone call comes into Air America, the liberal talk show channel that few listen to except the few hardcore left wing hand wringers and teeth gnashers out there who have no life and lo and behold a moonbat tells the ‘hostess’ that he is really really upset with the guy he and his ilk worked so hard to get into office, Mr. Barack Hussein Obama.

A Deck Stacked With Race Cards

What if America transcended race, and Barack Obama wasn’t invited? The question comes to mind as cries of racism grow ever louder from Obama’s supporters. No one should be surprised. Fish gotta swim, birds gotta fly, liberal Democrats have to accuse their opponents of racism. Indeed, somewhat to their credit, fighting racism — alas, even where it doesn’t exist — is one of the reasons they became liberal Democrats in the first place. The Death Book for Veterans

If President Obama wants to better understand why America’s discomfort with end-of-life discussions threatens to derail his health-care reform, he might begin with his own Department of Veterans Affairs (VA). He will quickly discover how government bureaucrats are greasing the slippery slope that can start with cost containment but quickly become a systematic denial of care. Last year, bureaucrats at the VA’s National Center for Ethics in Health Care advocated a 52-page end-of-life planning document, “Your Life, Your Choices.” [Brought about by Clinton, killed by Bush, brought back by Obama. Family told by NHS: Alzheimer’s is not a ‘health condition’

NHS Worcestershire ruled that Judith Roe, 74, did not qualify for NHS funding because her condition was a “social” rather than “health” problem, even though she was so ill she could not make a cup of tea and regularly left the stove on. She was forced to sell her £200,000 home to pay her £600-a-week nursing home fees, which would have been funded if she had been categorised correctly. Mrs Roe’s family appealed to the Health Service Ombudsman, which ruled that Mrs Roe’s assessment had been incorrect and her treatment should have been funded by the NHS.
