US Weekly must wish it hadn’t so blatantly tried to smear Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin so shortly after publishing its exaltation of Barack Obama as a modern day model husband–an incarnation of Ward Cleaver, Charles Ingalls and Cliff Huxtable. Its senior editor Bradley Jacobs appeared in a Fox News Channel interview with Megyn Kelly; and judging by his facial expression resembling a cross between a smirk and a caught-with-my-hand-in-the-cookie-jar guilty look, he obviously hoped to pull a fast one over her. Regrettably for him, he probably won’t be telling any blonde jokes for quite some time after getting sliced, diced, chopped up, and pureed by Kelly. What Jacobs thought would be an easy little one-segment interview turned into a full-bore witness stand cross-examination. Continue reading

You would think that for as long as the issue of stem cell research has been in the news, that the drive-by media would by now be better at reporting the fact that there is, yes, actually more than one kind of stem cell research. There’s embryonic stem cell research, which relies on the killing of untold numbers of human embryos once their stem cells are harvested; and there’s adult stem cell research, which has a far more proven track record of actually arriving at therapies and cures, and which kills no one in the process. In some breaking news that has been reported and repeated several times over the last few days, Sarah Palin’s husband Todd Palin, was arrested 22 years ago for a driving under the influence offense.
Todd Palin, the husband of John McCain’s running mate Sarah Palin, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol in 1986, CBS News confirms……
Palin was 22 years old at the time of his arrest.
Not to be too picky but as far as I can tell and with the information I have been able to find being arrested and being convicted are two different things. It is possible he was convicted of the charge but all of the articles I can find simply refer to “his arrest.” Like this really matters in the 2008 election.
Now let’s take a look at something that was happening back around the time the 22 year old Todd Palin was arrested for the DUI offense that actually does have an impact on the current election shall we? Continue reading

We’ve all done it. We’re standing in the grocery store check-out line waiting for that knucklehead that just started writing their check after everything has been bagged up and carted. We deliberately look for a distraction so as to prevent us from blowing a gasket at this Obama voting nitwit who now can’t seem find a working pen.
Your eyes are drawn to the blaring headline on the cover of some smarmy magazine conveniently located in a rack just a foot away from your face. Let’s see, some old fat guy has been sucked right out of his soybean field while harvesting his crop and taken away in a spaceship. Naw. How about an expose concerning Madonna and why she is now down to all of 74 pounds these days? Barf. Lindsay Lohan arrested again, Britney Spears goes back to rehab, Oprah cries a river over some Obama speech AND loses 40 pounds in the process…nope, all same old same old. Continue reading

After watching the opening evening of the Republican convention I can only come away with the feeling that Lieberman is hoping to snag a Secretary of State job or some such appointment in the McCain administration because he is dead, as a Democrat, after that speech! (spare me the Joe is an Independent argument please) I know he was hoping to slide into the convention as a vice presidential candidate and I’m convinced McCain really wanted to pull the trigger for Joe right up until the last moment before announcing Palin. Choosing Lieberman on the bottom of the ticket would have been a disaster and someone spent some serious time explaining that to McCain. Damn happy they did.

The third most powerful person in our country is in Japan and decides to make a public appearance at the Hiroshima Memorial, something no serving U.S. President or Vice President has ever done. Of course many will wince and recoil at the thought of what happened that day the atomic bomb was dropped, killing thousands of Japanese citizens. Soon after the city of Nagasaki would suffer the same fate. Keep in mind Pelosi was there as a representative of this country. Continue reading

The other night I’m sitting here hard at work tapping away on my computer and I had a thought. As I was getting ready to respond to a comment on a site I have been a part of for quite some time I decided to do a quick search for some information. The conversation involved that gift that never stops giving in the gaffe department, Joe Biden. Now, anybody that is familiar with this opportunist and abject failure when connected to any sort of presidential campaign knows he has diarrhea of the mouth pretty much whenever he opens it and talks about women. Continue reading

Let’s utilize a little intellectual honesty here for just a moment shall we?
We have all seen the vitriol, the bashing, the attempts at dragging the presumptive Republican vice presidential nominee through the mud since she was announced last week. Why? Why in the world would the liberals care so much about the person McCain chose? If she was such a terrible choice for McCain and the Republicans shouldn’t the Democrats be dancing on top of their bar tables in wild and unrestrained happiness and sheer joy? Golly, I’m a little confused about this!
