U.S. Senate Blocks Further HUD Funding Grants To The Crooks At ACORN

Well it’s about damn time these idiots on Capitol Hill began the process of de-funding the criminal enterprise known as ACORN, a so called non profit non partisan organization that has received $53,000,000,000 of taxpayer dollars over the last 15 years or so but has worked almost exclusively for benefit of the Democrat party since its inception.

Today the Senate voted 83-7 to deny the ability of the Housing and Urban Development Department to funnel taxpayer funds to ACORN after a series of devastating undercover videos were recently released clearly showing ACORN employees offering advice on how to falsify tax forms, purchase houses for illegal prostitution activity and bring underage girls from out of the country to work as hookers to two individuals posing as a pimp and prostitute.

The undercover duo, James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles, went to ACORN offices in Baltimore, Washington DC and Brooklyn New York seeking assistance on breaking the law and the ACORN employees were more than willing to lend a hand. So far ACORN has fired at least four people (more than likely simply moved them to another one of their offices or reemployed them within one or more of the hundreds of affiliate organizations under the umbrella of ACORN) with the fate of those in the Brooklyn office uncertain at this point.

ACORN can hardly claim these are “isolated incidents” because the behavior of their employees at at least three different offices was nearly identical clearly showing an eager willingness to circumvent state and federal laws, a pattern these crooks at ACORN have been well known for, for years.

Associated Press–The Senate voted Monday to block the Housing and Urban Development Department from giving grants to ACORN, a community organization under fire in several voter-registration fraud cases.

The 83-7 vote would deny housing and community grant funding to ACORN, which stands for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.

The action came as the group is suffering from bad publicity after a duo of conservative activists posing as a prostitute and her pimp released hidden-camera videos in which ACORN employees in Baltimore gave advice on house-buying and how to account on tax forms for the woman’s income. Two other videos, aired frequently on media outlets such as the Fox News Channel, depict similar situations in ACORN offices in Brooklyn and Washington, D.C.

The Senate’s move would mean that ACORN would not be able to win HUD grants for programs such as counseling low-income people on how to get mortgages and for fair housing education and outreach.

Sen. Mike Johanns, R-Neb., said that ACORN has received $53 million in taxpayer funds since 1994 and that the group was eligible for a wider set of funding in the pending legislation, which funds housing and transportation programs.

Just last week, the Census Bureau severed its ties with ACORN, saying it does not want the group’s help in outreach efforts on the decennial count……..

The seven who voted against denying ACORN the federal funding?

* Sheldon Whitehouse, (D-R.I.)
* Roland Burris, (D-Ill.)
* Dick Durbin, (D-Ill.)
* Bernie Sanders, (D-Vt.)
* Patrick Leahy, (D-Vt.)
* Bob Casey, (D-Pa.)
* Kirsten Gillibrand, (D-N.Y.)

Not voting were Sen. Barbara Mikulski, (D-Md.), and Sen. Robert Byrd, (D-W.Va.)
