Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee John Conyers (D-MI), who’s wife is awaiting sentencing for her conviction on bribery charges, was giving a little speech at a National Press Club get together and wondered aloud why Congresscritters should bother reading these massive bills coming out of Washington DC these days. He was specifically speaking about the bill concerning the government takeover of our healthcare system which comes in at over 1,000 pages at a cost of about one billion dollars PER PAGE.
Isn’t that terrific? We have life altering legislation being written behind closed doors by lobbyists and lawyers and the people we elected to represent our interests don’t want to be bothered with reading and understanding all of the crap contained within these bills. Nice.
