Majority Whip Democratic Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina, following close on the heels of the first black U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder’s proclamation that Americans are racist cowards, declares that the Republican governors of four states contemplating the acceptance of heavily string attached money via the Democrat-party-supporters-payback-bill, are slapping black people in the face if they don’t just jump on board with the program.

Clyburn, upset that the four states, Texas, South Carolina, Louisiana and Mississippi, have governors that have not been completely supportive of Obama’s massive taxpayer funded giveaway, said that these states represent “the proverbial black belt” of this country and should be all over the free cash handout. Saying he was insulted that anyone would actually have the nerve to second guess the Democrats in Congress who slapped this financial boondoggle together and the man in the White House who signed it, Clyburn and his South Carolina home state Republican Governor Mark Sanford have been going at it over this stimulus bill since it’s conception.

A spokesman for Governor Mark Sanford claimed Clyburn was simply playing the “proverbial” race card.

“Spending money at the federal level that we do not have represents a future tax increase on all South Carolinians, regardless of their color and in the process of doing so, he’s ripping off everyone he claims to represent” said Sanford spokesman Joel Sawyer.

There has been no mention by Clyburn of racist tendencies on the parts of the Republican Governors in Idaho and Alaska who have also had reservations about accepting the money knowing full well the result will be future obligations to the federal government if they do so. Evidently he must consider those two states outside of the black belt….loop.

Clyburn’s thoughts and opinions concerning the Governors and their hesitance to grab the big bags of money came about when speaking to reporters about the Juneteenth celebration, which marks when slaves in Texas finally learned they had been freed by a Presidential Executive Order called the Emancipation Proclamation by that iconic white guy Obama likes to pattern himself after, Abraham Lincoln, some year and a half after its signing.

In the accompanying video Clyburn wraps things up with, “Knowing my history and knowing Texas history, all of this, it was a slap in the face of African-Americans….”

I agree black folks should feel like they were slapped in the face….by Representative Clyburn! How much more offensive could someone be than to say a certain ethnic group of our American citizens are just standing around waiting for the government handout ice cream truck to come trolling through their neighborhoods?

Eric Holder, you call this country full of racist cowards? Well I say to you, with the likes of this Clyburn guy, you just might be on to something after all.
