Former Border Patrol Agents Ignacio Ramos, Jose Compean Released From Federal Prison Today

Irrespective of the constant claims of rampant racism in this country I’m comfortable saying millions of American citizens of all ethnicities are very happy this day is finally upon us. Igancio Ramos and Jose Campean are finally free and home with their families after spending two years in solitary confinement in federal prison for the non fatal shooting of an illegal alien and convicted drug smuggler while on duty as Border Patrol agents.

In one of his last acts as president, George W. Bush signed a commutation (not a pardon as many have reported) of their 11 and 12 year sentences with the release date specified as today February 17th. I am hoping that somehow this case can be reviewed and at some point some sanity can be brought to bear and these men will be reinstated as Border Patrol agents with clean records, back pay and some compensation for what that embarrassment of a federal prosecutor, Johnny Sutton, has done to these men and their families.

Godspeed gentlemen.
