U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow Wants Action On Fairness Doctrine. Her Husband, Thomas Athans, Is An Executive For Liberal Radio Talk Show Network

2-7-09

Liberal radio talk show host Bill Press had a chat with U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow from Michigan yesterday morning concerning the re-imposition of the Fairness Doctrine and he was pressing her hard to get some movement in the Senate just as soon as possible.

Not satisfied with owning virtually all print media, TV news, regular television programming, the educational system and Hollywood, liberals are just beside themselves that talk radio is dominated by conservatives and they are frantic to clamp down on the First Amendment and this avenue of discussion. The reason the liberals get so wound up about talk radio is the fact that issues can actually be talked about at length rather than the 30 second sound bites that are used by the compliant left leaning media to mislead and frankly flat out lie to the American people and in fact the entire world.

Liberal talk radio has been a bust from it’s inception because it is very difficult to hold a cogent conversation with an audience that has been dumbed down to a stump for decades. When your whole platform is based on emotional responses void of any real critical thinking it makes it a very difficult product to sell to the public and in turn to advertisers.

Let’s listen to what the Michigan senator has to say:

BILL PRESS: Yeah, I mean, look: They have a right to say that. They’ve got a right to express that. But, they should not be the only voices heard. So, is it time to bring back the Fairness Doctrine?

SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW (D-MI): I think it’s absolutely time to pass a standard. Now, whether it’s called the Fairness Standard, whether it’s called something else — I absolutely think it’s time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves. I mean, our new president has talked rightly about accountability and transparency. You know, that we all have to step up and be responsible. And, I think in this case, there needs to be some accountability and standards put in place.

BILL PRESS: Can we count on you to push for some hearings in the United States Senate this year, to bring these owners in and hold them accountable?

SENATOR DEBBIE STABENOW (D-MI): I have already had some discussions with colleagues and, you know, I feel like that’s gonna happen. Yep.

The senator says, “I think it’s absolutely time to pass a standard. Now, whether it’s called the Fairness Standard, whether it’s called something else — I absolutely think it’s time to be bringing accountability to the airwaves. I mean, our new president has talked rightly about accountability and transparency. You know, that we all have to step up and be responsible. And, I think in this case, there needs to be some accountability and standards put in place.”

Now that is interesting coming from someone who represents a state, overrun with liberal political representation, that is so screwed up right now the residents can’t see straight.

Whether it’s measured by job creation, home foreclosures or people on food stamps, Michigan’s economy is one of the worst in the United States.

Michigan’s emergency rooms among nations worst.

In a national report card released this month from the American College of Emergency Physicians, Michigan received a D+ for its overall emergency care environment, ranked 43rd in the nation.

The state earned near-failing grades in access, patient safety and medical liability. The only areas where the state performed above average was in disaster preparedness (B+) and public health and injury prevention (C).

Foreclosures are through the roof in Michigan.

A recently released news report from Detroit spoke of a house in Detroit that was sold for one dollar. The home in question was a bank owned property and was listed on Multiple Listing Service last January for 1,100. That failed in attracting buyers. An abandoned house in Detroit can be bought for as little as 100 while empty plots sell for around 300.

Michigan, worst graduation rate for black males.

Michigan has the worst graduation rate in the nation for black males, while Detroit Public Schools has one of the worst rates among all districts, according to a national report issued Friday. Detroit Public Schools graduates 20 percent of black males. The district has a lower rate of graduating white males — 17 percent — exemplifying that the low rates are more a matter of inequality in resources than a matter of race…

Accountability and responsibility Mrs. Stabenow? How much accountability and responsibility are you willing to accept considering the condition of your home state? Your husband?

OK I know this Fairness Doctrine rabble has nothing to do with all of this transparency, accountability and responsibility nonsense it has to do with shutting down the most important information stream for those American citizens who wish to know what is really going on especially in Washington DC. But it really goes even farther than that folks.

You see the prim and proper senator from Michigan is married to some 47 year old fella named Thomas Athans. Now if this guy was a Republican or if the senator was of that political persuasion then we would ALL know who this guy was but I’ll bet the name doesn’t really register with a whole bunch of people out there.

You see it turns out that Mr. Athans was feeling mighty spunky back on the evening of February 26, 2008. Evidently his wallet was fat with some $150 and he found it uncomfortable to sit on so he made what he thought was a logical decision. He blew it on a 20 year old hooker. Unfortunately for Mr. Athans he was also driving on a suspended license when he got lit up by the police that evening while driving down the road with Alycia Martin, the prostitute, sitting next to him. Something like this would be a career ender for a Republican but for a Democrat these kind of situations always seem to turn into resume enhancers.

The real issue with Mr. Athans has nothing to do with him screwing around on his wife, the liberal senator, with women that will hump anyone for a buck.

No, the pertinent issue with Mr. Athans, the senators husband, is that he was a co-founder and former CEO of the liberal Democracy Radio, was the co-founder of the liberal TalkUSA Radio network and is the executive vice-president of yet another liberal talk radio organization Air America!

Wow! So let’s see we have a United States Senator go on the air with a liberal talk show host, Bill Press, who pleads with her to do something, anything to quash the conservative radio shows and help yank his sorry butt out of the number 97 ratings slot with the help of our government.

She agrees saying something really needs to be done to bring “balance” to the radio air waves, never mind the that liberals dominate every other form of the American media and she is already getting fellow lawmakers together to try and make this Muzzle-The-Conservatives-Doctrine happen as soon as she can.

Then it turns out her husband has been up to his eyeballs in the liberal talk radio business for years! Hot damn ladies and gentlemen, can anyone else make the connection here?

The old having different names in the hopes that people won’t be able to easily connect the dots is so last year Senator Stabenow and your real motivations have been and will continue to be revealed to the people and that is why you really hate the First Amendment and conservative talk radio now isn’t it?

Who knows, maybe the senator was the person Nancy Pelosi had in mind when she tried to ram through (no pun intended) all that money in the “stimulus bill” for the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases?
