Mark Halperin Of Time Magazine Says Media Pro Obama Coverage Was Extreme

Golly gee willikers folks the lamestream media is oh so sorry about their slanted and biased coverage of the recent presidential race. In fact they are downright upset with themselves to the point that they feel it is necessary to have little gathering where they can express just how bad they feel concerning their daily two year effort to help install Barack Obama as the next president of this fine country of ours.

That’s right ladies and gentlemen according to Mark Halperin, a columnist at Time magazine, proclaimed at the Politico/USC conference on the 2008 election (whatever the hell that is) that the media apparently failed to provide fair and balanced reporting during the presidential campaign saying, “It’s the most disgusting failure of people in our business since the Iraq war. It was extreme bias, extreme pro-Obama coverage.”

Yeah we kinda noticed.

Not to be cynical, of course, but one would have to wonder if this is simply a self serving mea culpa from Halperin doing his part to throw a bucket full of water overboard of the sinking ship called Time Inc.

“The example that I use, at the end of the campaign, was the two profiles that The New York Times ran of the potential first ladies,” Halperin said. “The story about Cindy McCain was vicious. It looked for every negative thing they could find about her and it case her in an extraordinarily negative light. It didn’t talk about her work, for instance, as a mother for her children, and they cherry-picked every negative thing that’s ever been written about her.”

The story about Michelle Obama, by contrast, was “like a front-page endorsement of what a great person Michelle Obama is,” according to Halperin.

You know I think I could have come up with much better examples of the media not doing its job than the Cindy McCain hack job.

Gee do you think some of these people would have known what was going on in this country and Congress if it was ever REPORTED in the media? Wow….just wow. Great job on hiding all of the garbage about Obama and what the Democrats have been up to while making sure stuff like Palin’s wardrobe and teenage daughter were front and center there guys. Fine job indeed. Sheer stupidity and ignorance of the population combined with unabashed media bias gives us four years of the most unqualified person ever in the White House. This never would have happened if the black guy running was a Republican trying to make history and that is a fact.

“You do have to take into account the fact that this was a remarkable candidacy,” Halperin said. “There were a lot of good stories. He was new.”

New York magazine’s John Heilemann, one of Halperin’s co-panelists, offered another reason for all the positive press coverage Obama received.

“The biggest bias in the press is towards effectiveness,” said Heilemann, who is authoring a book on the 2008 race along with Halperin.

“We love things that are smart.”

Things that are smart huh? Certainly he wasn’t referring to Obama who sans teleprompter routinely fumbled and mumbled his way through off script stump speeches. One of the few times the word actually got out about Obama really blowing it was the infamous Joe the Plumber encounter which earned Joe an instant, extensive and illegitimate government background investigation. I won’t even get into stuff that idiot Joe Biden has said, he is beyond hopeless.

As Halperin winds it down he finishes up with, “I think it’s incumbent upon people in our business to make sure that we’re being fair,” he said. “The daily output was the most disparate of any campaign I’ve ever covered, by far.”

Yes Halperin, I believe Deborah Howell of the equally guilty Washington (Com)Post agrees with you on that one. Of course she is probably looking to save a few jobs over there too.
