WHO am I?

Post contributed by Eric, 9-13-08

OK, some of you know that “Who Am I” is a popular song by the Christian group Casting Crowns! But it’s also the title of a pretty eye-opening e-mail I received yesterday from a long-time friend:

WHO AM I?

I am under 45 years old,
I love the outdoors,
I hunt,
I am a Republican reformer,
I have taken on the Republican Party establishment,
I have many children,
I have a spot on the national ticket as vice president

with less than two years in the governor’s office.

Well duh, Eric, the answer is obviously Sarah Palin! Yeahhhh……but that’s too easy!

Nope, sorry, not the answer I’m looking for. Guesses? Anyone? Bueller? Give up?

How about Theodore Roosevelt in the year 1900? Ding ding, we have a winner! Our 26th President, who actually became President at the age of 42 (two years younger than Palin’s current age) when William McKinley was assassinated. Methinks Teddy, along with “Silent” Cal Coolidge and Ronald Reagan, turned out to be one of the best Presidents of the 20th century. I see a nice trace of Teddy Roosevelt in Sarah Palin to the extent that she’s not afraid to ruffle a few feathers among her fellow Republicans as well as the Democrats and their cozy drive-by media allies. Who knows, maybe she’ll create a “Bull Moose” wing of the Republican Party–and she does know more than most about moose with her fine Alaskan background! And she don’t take no bull from nobody neither!
